HELLO SHOBHA
Yes, a commerce student can apply to become pilot .The minimum qualification required to get a Commercial Pilot License is 10+2 with physics and Maths , 18 years of Age completion and a class II medical test which is done by DGCA approved doctors. You need to pass Physics and Maths subjects at 10+2 level from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) On-Demand Examinations and can start your Pilot training course.
A good aviation consultant can help you clear the mathematics and physics subject, guide you to a good pilot training school in India or abroad. Arrange for your VISA, if you wish to do the training abroad, even may help you with a cheap flight ticket.
It may cost you 30L for flying training in India, and 35L for flying training in the US. The flying training rates are only indicative. You must ask the relevant flying academy authorities. It would take 2–3 years to complete pilot training in India, and you may be able to complete the flying training abroad in 8 months, as they have good infrastructure and facilities, and more than 50 airplanes for training. They are very professional and fast.
Most Flying Schools also offer flexible ‘Schooling’ program for such aspirants, who hail from a ‘non-Science’ schooling background.
Under such a program, the Commerce stream student is asked to enroll by the Flight School to a ‘Distance Education’ course conducted by NIOS(National Institute of Open Schooling). Under this Distance Correspondence Course, the student will be able to carry on 10+2 Science stream schooling. Such course is Recognized by the Government also. Thus, educational requirements of non science group students can be satisfied by NIOS.
The guidelines are usually provided by the Flight School regarding such course. But you may also take things into your own hands and enroll for NIOS course yourself too!
Once the course of 10+2 Science Stream is completed, you may join Flying School and go for CPL training.
And now you can become a Pilot!!
