The lateral entry examination, will directly provide you admission to the 2nd year of BE Computer Engineering.

Now if you wish take admission in the 1st year of the course, then you have to apply through the state level joint or the entrance required for your desired college but you need to have your 10+2 marks and based on the performance of the entrance you will be selected for the course. This question depends on various conditions like ,

1. If you want to do diploma in Computer Engineering , then JEE is not required. Polytechnic Entrance exam will be then suggested for you to appear .
2. If you want to get admission in any state engineering colleges that offers B.Tech through State Entrance exams ( like for Gujrat , GUJCET and etc. ), then in that case also, appearing in JEE Main is optional
3. JEE Main will be compulsory ,if you want to get admission in NITs , GFTIs and to be eligible for JEE Advanced .
