I want to take admission in JNU in M.A Economics programme but I don't have mathematics in 12th standard nor in my graduation course so I'm eligible for CUET PG exam or not?
Hello,
Unfortunately, you would not be eligible for admission to the M.A. Economics program at JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) without a background in Mathematics at the 10+2 level or during your graduation. JNU has specific eligibility criteria for the M.A. in Economics program, which require candidates to have sufficient mathematical preparation.
Hi Sakshi,
You would not be eligible for admission to the M.A. in Economics program at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) if you lack a Mathematics background from your 12th standard or during your undergraduate studies.
The M.A. Economics program at JNU has specific eligibility requirements that necessitate a solid foundation in Mathematics.
JNU M.A. Economics Eligibility Criteria:
- Academic Background:
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field.
However, they must have completed Mathematics at least at the 10+2 level.
CUET PG Eligibility:
Although CUET PG serves as the entrance exam for JNU's M.A. programs, your application will not be considered if you do not meet the minimum subject requirements.
Universities with General M.A. Economics Programs:
Some institutions do not require Mathematics as a compulsory subject and accept students based on their undergraduate marks or entrance exam scores.
Examples include IGNOU and Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD).

You could look into programs in Development Studies, Public Policy, or Economics and Policy , which may have less strict math requirements.
