hi sylvia, lemme tell you how you can score well in chemistry, there are plenty of books out there in market and many are good and it all comes down to individual preference, ofcourse just NCERT text book alone is not enough for chemistry. so read your concepts well, i used my coaching institute material, it was very helpful and i also solved my questions from the question bank that they gave which is quite enough, but if you wish to solve more, use previous years paper and i used op tandon and jd lee as reference books, always dont forget to analyse, rectify and learn from your mistakes, solve atleast 300 to 500 questions per chapter, and trust me follow this, you will see your scores soaring, ping me if you have any more queries, good luck buddy

Hello Sylvia,

"By sufficient" I will refer to marks required by a general category student to get a  government medical college and for that at least more than 590 or so might be needed as per previous year patterns and one can't just rely just  on NCERTs cause even if concepts are revised again and again from NCERTs, NEET question paper doesn't just include conceptual questions but it also checks numerical solving skills .

For numericals one has to solve questions and problems to get a hold on pattern to solve numericals.
In short one might  get private medical college range of marks even after numerous revisions of NCERTs but to get score of 550 or more you have to start solving objectives too along with NCERTs.

Hope that helps and if you still have any queries about this topic please let me know in comments below.

Good luck
Thanks

Hello Sylvia,

Most important for NEET/AIIMS is your NCERT books as these books include basic principles and concepts and provide accurate information.

BUT KEEP IN MIND YOU HAVE TO CLEAR ENTRANCE YOU ARE NOT DOING PhD so dont go by all books mentioned here and there

KEEP NCERT + ONE REFERNCE BOOK + MAXIMUM MCQS PRACTICE = Medical SEAT Apart from this, you can add upon it by following books.

Chemistry -

Arihant Organic Chemistry

Dinesh Chemistry Inorganic

Physical Chemistry by O P Tandon

Objective NCERT at your fingertips Chemistry by MTG

Hope this helps!....BEST OF LUCK

While reading NCERT textbooks might help you in framing your concepts, how would you evaluate how well you've understood the basics?
You definitely need a good reference book for MCQs and practice in on a regular basis by allocating a fixed amount of time for the same.
If you've joined a coaching institution for your preparation, your mentors might be guiding you regarding the same. If not, here a few books you can consider following-
(MIND YOU, NOT ALL THE BOOKS I'LL BE MENTIONING BELOW NEED TO BE PURCHASED, PICK UP ANY ONE OF THE BELOW MENTIONED BOOKS AND FOLLOW IT RELIGIOUSLY)
1)Physical chemistry by O. P TANDON
2) organic chemistry by Morrison and Boyd for Organic chemistry
3)Modern's ABC of chemistry for class 11 & 12
4) Concise inorganic chemistry by J.D Lee for inorganic chemistry
5)Dinesh chemistry

Take a peek into the previous year's papers as well and try solving those questions too.

HI Sylvia Chodagiri,

For chemistry in NEET, you need both .... the concept as well as the presence of mind. Sometimes it might happen that a very easy question seems to be difficult in language and hence we apply the great concept in it and tends to waste alot of time.

Accuracy and precision coems with practice. the more you practice, the more to become accurate and hence the more you score.

So, I would like to suggest you to go with NCERT as well as try solving MCQs so that you become able to build the concepts and answer with accuracy.

hope this moight helps you.

If so, please leave in comment.

All the Best.
