Comparing both the institutes is not possible as both are institute are of national importance to be called an iitian is another level feeling but still to study at nit allahabad is dream for millions so they can only be compared if you mention which branch you are getting in both the institute because branches creates difference .

It seems from outside that IIT Ropar can't be compared with mnnit Allahabad as IIT Ropar has IIT tag but honestly nit Allahabad has a very good placement and academic is also good. Nit Allahabad is among top nits in the country and IIT Ropar is newly made so I'll suggest nit Allahabad over IIT Ropar.
