What is the full form of AAO?

AAO is an abbreviation for Assistant Audit Officer. The AAO examination was included in the Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) examination in 2016. AAOs work for the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IAAD), which reports to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). Because of the high income, this is the most sought-after entry-level post. AAOs are authorized officers who are in charge of section-level decision-making. They examine the accounting, finances, operations, and compliance of state, central government, and public-sector organizations. They assist and accompany audit officials. To become an AAO, the candidate must either hold a bachelor's degree from an authorized university or have a degree of CA, MBA, MBS, M.Com., MBE or CMA.

Roles and Responsibilities of AAO

The AAOs are responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Examine firm and employee bills for medical, RTF, TL, payroll, and other expenses.

  • Conduct internal training.

  • Reviewing reported data to create a 'Draft Audit Paragraph' (DAP).

  • Creating one-of-a-kind auditing methodologies for various ministries and departments.

  • Using auditing software, identify potential flaws in all financial records and transactions.

  • Editing and submitting records to the Director of the department.
