CAVA Mysore or also known as Chamarajendra Government Visual Arts College is one of the well-known colleges in Mysore with an aim of finding, grooming and nurturing talent in arts & graphic designing. CAVA Mysore was set up in the same year 1982 and is located in the city of art, culture and heritage, Mysore in Karnataka. Located on a comparatively small territory of 4.4 acres, CAVA Mysore provides its students with concentrated educational experience. It has 167 learners enrolled in the college and is staffed by 21 committed professionals who constitute the faculty. CAVA Mysore offers three focused visual arts programs at the under and post graduate levels; therefore, it is the center of the creative learning in the area.

CAVA Mysore proudly presents some of the facilities it has put in place to enhance students’ talents and growth in art. The wealth of artistic knowledge and creative ideas is committed to CAVA Mysore’s fundamental asset – a library. The institution boasts of a good IT department and makes sure that the students are in touch with the gadgets in the art sector. Departmental laboratories include different forms of practical experience in the various art forms. To ensure that CAVA Mysore staff and students get some time to refresh themselves, CAVA Mysore provides a canteen service. With state-of-art facilities, CAVA Mysore also has an auditorium to conduct seminars, events and to exhibit students’ works. Being aware of the significance of human body’s functioning, the college offers sports facilities for everyone. Further, the college has a health center which also has first aid services to address the needs of the college population.

CAVA Mysore is one of a kind in focusing on a particular field of study, with five full time courses in visual arts. The BFA as well as B.V.A courses are for three years of undergraduate programmes and the MFA is two-year postgraduate programme with several specialisations. These programs are intended to ensure that students get balanced education in different fields of specialization in visual arts to ensure they can practice their trades in the relevant employment sector. 

Admission to this special school located in Mysore city specifically targets talented artists at the basic level of education. For the B.V.A. program the college sets its own entrance examination. Prospective students are required to pass this examination with a passing score of 50 percent. Erstwhile, students are admitted into different courses offered at varsity depending on their scores in the entrance exams enabling the varsity to admit talents who have the potentiality to study in such a prestigious varsity. 

The admission procedure of MFA program is nearly the same as that of BFA program except the college level entrance examination. Once more it is expected to complete the test with at least 50% and the distributions of places are according to the scores in this exam.
