About College of Education, Boko

The College of Education, Boko, has been in operation since 1998 and is affiliated with a co-educational institution in the district of Kamrup, Assam. This institution was permitted by NCTE and specialises in running various programs related to teacher education. The college is located on a compact 3-acre campus and has two full-time courses with a total student intake of 200. The strength of the faculty is 16, thereby maintaining a favourable student-to-teacher ratio, which gives personal attention to each aspiring educator. 

It has various facilities that provide ample opportunities to learners in making their study fruitful. The library, being the central academic resource centre, houses over 3,500 books, 14 education journals, and 12 periodicals; encyclopaedias are also available, as is a special reference section. At the college level, there are departmental laboratories for practical experience. It also provides sports facilities, an auditorium for events and symposiums, and the latest IT infrastructure. The campus also has a canteen for refreshments and a health centre equipped with first-aid facilities to take care of the well-being of the college community. 

The College of Education, Boko, also offers two specialised courses in the area of education. Both courses are full-time and aimed at preparing students for satisfying teaching careers. The two courses offered here, viz., Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), have an enrolment capacity of 100 students each, thus totalling 200 seats in both courses. The programs are designed in a way so as to impart and provide complete theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a budding teacher.

This is a merit-based college, and admission to the College of Education, Boko, is done based on selection tests. In the case of B.Ed., the candidates need to qualify for the Common Entrance Test conducted by Gauhati University. The college will issue the admission forms in June or July to the eligible candidates, and an academic session is started in August. Candidates who apply for D.El.Ed. shall have to appear in the pre-entry test, conducted by SCERT, Assam. 

The merit of the marks obtained in the pre-admission test shall combine to form the final result with the candidate's performance in HSSLC, or graduation examinations. College of Education, Boko Admission

College of Education, Boko is a renowned teacher training college located in the Kamrup district of Assam. The College of Education, Boko admission process is merit-based and involves selection tests for both its courses. For the B.Ed course, admissions are given on the basis of a Common Entrance Test (CET) held by Gauhati University. The college declares admission forms to the selected candidates who have cleared the CET, generally in June or July of each academic year. The academic year for B.Ed generally commences in August.

For D.El.Ed course, candidates have to sit for Pre-Entry Test (PET) conducted by Assam State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). PET carries a total of 100 marks, and admission is determined on the basis of aggregate merit of PET marks as well as the performance of the candidate in HSSLC (Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate) or graduation exam.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education):
The College of Education, Boko, has an intake capacity of 100 seats in the B.Ed course. The course is admitted on the basis of the Common Entrance Test conducted by Gauhati University. Candidates eligible to appear in the CET who clear the same are supplied with admission forms by the college in June-July. The process of selection is purely merit-based, considering the CET scores. The cost of the B.Ed course is Rs. 110,000.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education):
The admission for the D.El.Ed course is also 100 seats. For admission to this course, students must appear for the Pre-Entry Test (PET) conducted by SCERT, Assam. The admission procedure is a mix of the PET marks and the performance of the individual in his/her HSSLC or graduation examination. SCERT, Assam, prepares the final merit list and sends it directly to the college. The overall fee for the D.El.Ed course is Rs. 27,000.
