College of Fisheries Science, Nagaon is one of the affiliate colleges located in Raha, Nagaon, Assam. It was established in the year 1988. This is a co-educational college with unique specialisation in fisheries education and research at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level. Occupying an area of 226.97 acres of land, the college accommodated a strength of 143 students with faculty strength at 26. The institute offers three streams of degrees catering to the different interests in fisheries science. Focusing on this, College of Fisheries Science at Nagaon is directly working toward creating professionally competent professionals in the fisheries sector.

College of Fisheries Science provides a sound learning environment to students and has facilities for the all-round development of students in their academics and personalities. Equipped laboratories on campus provide for proper practical training and research work for the study and issues related to fishery science. In addition, there is also a comprehensive library in the campus that serves as a treasure house of knowledge through which students can acquire many resources in the field of study. The college takes care of physical fitness and recreation with sports facilities and a gymnasium. Separate hostel accommodations for both boys and girls are well provided, even from distant locations. An auditorium facilitates academic and cultural events, besides which there is a cafeteria with services catering to the dietary needs of students and staff. There is a medical facility that provides first-aid services in case of emergencies. Also, it has provided support in terms of an excellent IT infrastructure for the new methods of teaching and research.

The College of Fisheries Science, Nagaon offers three courses that covering different levels of study. The courses are as follows: B.F.Sc, a Bachelor's programme in fisheries science, M.F.Sc Aquaculture, which is a Master's programme in aquaculture, and Ph.D. Aquaculture, which is related to a doctoral programme in aquaculture.

In principle, the college strictly follows the merit admission system as stipulated in the guidance of its Academic Council Eligibility criteria for undergraduate admissions are however taken into consideration as per the stipulation laid down by the university body. Also, post-graduate and doctoral admissions are solely on a merit basis to ensure that only the best candidates gain entry into these specialized programs.

1. Eligibility Check: Eligibility should first be managed by a prospective student for the intended program. For B.F.Sc, it revolves around prescribed requirements made by the university.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science): This is what the college primarily offers for students in the undergraduate programs. Admission to B.F.Sc is strictly based on merit according to the provisions made by the Academic Council. The sanctioned number of seats for the program is 25. Candidates must meet the minimum admission criteria stipulated by the university for the B.F.Sc degree program.

M.F.Sc Aquaculture (Master of Fisheries Science in Aquaculture): This is a continuing postgraduate program leading to an advanced study on aquaculture. Admission into the program is strictly based on merit and the preset guidelines provided by the Academic Council. One fact that is clearly evident is that the college has not specified the intake numbers for this program; however, such is a postgraduate program in the institution.

Ph.D. on Aquaculture: The highest form of study in the college is the doctoral program in Aquaculture. Just like all the other programs, admission into this course is strictly on merit following the condition set by Academic Council. The program is approved for an intake of 5 seats-an indicator that this is a highly selective program.
