About CSI College of Nursing, Karakonam
The CSI College of Nursing Karakonam was started a decade ago in the year 2002 and is one of the leading nursing college in Kerala state of southern India. A private co-educational institution that is established in Thiruvananthapuram, this College of Nursing provides students with programmes in nursing. It is an institute affiliated college spread in 42 acres of area which is approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC). This college admits 209 students in total and employs 21 faculties which proves that CSI College of Nursing focuses mainly on the education of its learners. With these two programmes, the college provides 7 course s in various specialisations in the field of nursing education.
The institute has accumulated numerous amenities that are intended to improve the learning process of the learners. The institution’s college library was started together with the college in 2002 and is a computerized information system using Auto Lib software. The library is one of the biggest medical college libraries that contains a vast choice of books, periodicals, and database titles. In regard to students’ residing the institution provides individual hostels for boys and girls respectively. It also uses well-equipped laboratories for practical purposes as a college for its students. For total growth, the campus amenities consist of basketball and volleyball, acreage for football, cricket, indoor games and much more. There an extensive gym for male students and there is also another for female students. The college also has an indoor auditorium for 750 people and an open air for 3000 people.
Indeed, CSI College of Nursing presents a package of nursing courses offered by the institution is 7 courses. Basically, the courses offered undergo a full-time learning process, and the institute offers the under: There are four courses at the undergraduate level in this college namely B.Sc Nursing with 85 intake capacities and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with 30 intake capacities. Postgraduate courses include M.Sc programmes in Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Maternity Nursing, Psychiatry Nursing and Child Health Nursing all with a fifty percent quota for four students each.

The CSI College of Nursing, Karakonam, is one of the premier colleges for nursing studies in the state of Kerala, southern India. This college has a well-formulated structured admission procedure that aims at identifying eager and capable students to join its various nursing programs. This is an affiliated college of the Kerala University of Health Sciences and strictly follows the rules and regulations for admission as framed by the university and the Indian Nursing Council.
Eligibility criteria varies with the different programs. Candidates must have qualified 10+2 with science subjects for an undergraduate program in B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing. For M.Sc Nursing specializations, a bachelor's degree of B.Sc in Nursing is also required.
Application Procedure
Application procedure for CSI College of Nursing, Karakonam is as follows:
1. Visit the official college website (https://www.smcsimch.ac.in/karkonammc/csi-college-of-nursing.php) or the Kerala University of Health Sciences website for the application announcement.
2. Download and fill the application form for the concerned course. Ensure that all the details are properly filled.
3. Collect all documents required for which usually includ
- Passport size photograph
- Mark sheets of qualifying examinations like 10th, 12th, B.Sc Nursing for PG student
- Valid ID proof
- Caste certificate if necessary
- Entrance exam score card if necessary
4. Submit the form duly filled and all other relevant documents to the college admission office before the prescribed date. Submission can be in person or through registered post.
5. Pay the application fee as stipulated by the college. This amount and its payment mode shall be specified in the application instruction sheet.
6. After submitting your application, the college will process the applications, and a list of selected students will be notified.
7. If selected, candidates have to complete the admission formalities like document verification and fee payment within the given time frame.
8. For M.Sc Nursing programs, the shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or additional selection process.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Sc Nursing: This is an undergraduate four-year program with an intake capacity of 85 students. Eligibility is based on the merit of a candidate in the qualifying examination, that is, 10+2 with science subjects and any other relevant entrance exam as prescribed by the Kerala University of Health Sciences.
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This course has an intake of 30 students and is for registered nurses who want to upgrade their qualifications. The candidates should have a diploma in nursing and relevant work experience as specified by the university.
M.Sc Nursing: CSI College of Nursing offers five specializations in M.Sc Nursing, each with an intake of 4 students:
- M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing
- M.Sc Community Health Nursing
- M.Sc Maternity Nursing
- M.Sc Psychiatry Nursing
- M.Sc Child Health Nursing
Admission to these courses is generally offered on the basis of the candidate's B.Sc Nursing scores and performance in any entrance exam or interview conducted by the university or college.
