Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College and Hospital, Kolkata, was established in the year 1952 with a view of imparting quality dental education in the heart of Kolkata, West Bengal. This is an affiliated college and is approved by the Dental Council of India. Seven decades and more, this college has met the needs of dental education. The college, which spans an area of 2 acres, offers scores of dental programs to 590 students enrolled in it. Having 70 members on the faculty makes the student-teacher ratio convenient, thereby providing both personal attention and quality education.
The college affords 8 courses spread across 2 degree levels in different specializations of dentistry, hence becoming a one-stop solution for dental studies. The infrastructure developed in the institute houses various facilities which give value-added learning to the students and develop them entirely. The college library is a knowledge hub of dental literature and research material. Comfortable living is present in separate hostels for boys and girls. Medical facilities are catered for on-campus to help attend to health cases of students but in case of emergencies. The college has sports facilities, fostering physical fitness and teamwork.
