GFGC Shankaranarayana is a government-first-grade college with great old standing in Kundapura Taluk in Udupi District-Karnataka. GFGC Shankaranarayana is thus a diversified college that offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in much varietal field. The general admission process of GFGC Shankaranarayana is user-friendly and simple for all aspiring applicants. Admission is on merit and based on the results exhibited by students during their qualifying examinations in terms of the total score. Like all other government institutions, it is guided by the admission rules laid down by the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Karnataka. Such students who have qualified their 10+2 from a recognized school board can apply for undergraduate programs. 

Application Process

The application process carried out for admissions into GFGC Shankaranarayana includes:

1. Notification: When students are to be enlisted into the college, it will come with an admission prompt message to the official website of the college and local newspapers for the public use. 

2. Application Form: Candidates can fill out the application form either from the college office or download it from the official website.

3. Form Filling: Applicants must fill the application form with accurate personal and academic details.

4. Document Submission: Also to be submitted with the now complete application form will be the following credentials:

• Original HSC and ssc mark sheets with photocopy
• Previous institution transfer certificate
• Caste certificate, if applicable.
• Recent passport-size photographs.
• Any other documents or certificates as specified by college.

5. Application Submission: Application completed along with other necessary documents should be submitted to the college admission office with the deadline given.

6. Merit List: College prepares a merit list of students based on the performance of applicants in their qualifying examinations.

7. Counseling and Seat Allocation: Shortlisted students are called for counseling, whereby seats are allocated through merit and availability.

8. Fee Payment: Selected students shall pay the entrance prescribed fee for confirming their seat.

9. Admission Confirmation: On the realization of all formalities and payment of the fee, admission becomes successful, and students can fetch their admission letter from the collegeoffice.

Degree wise Admission Process

GFGC Shankaranarayana in total offers 5 courses under 4 programs, which are operated in full time. Admission procedure for each degree program is as followed by:

B.A. (Bachelor of Arts): Two B.A. programs offered by the college are:

• B.A. in History, Economics, and Optional Kannada
• B.A. in History, Economics, and Political Science

Entry to these programs is merit-based on qualifying 12th standard examination marks. Preference is given to candidates passing the 10+2 in Arts or its equivalents.

B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce): B.Com course of GFGC Shankaranarayana is targeted to initiate students towards commerce and business sectors. Admission is based on a merit list prepared according to marks scored in 12th standard with preference given to students of the Commerce stream.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): The BBA degree aims students aspiring for a management career. It considers the academic score in 12th standard with subjects relating to commerce and mathematics.

M.Com (Master of Commerce): For the postgraduate M.Com programs, the requirement for admission relies mostly on the qualifying score attained from the bachelor's degree (preferably B.Com) or equivalent. The college may conduct an entrance test or interview for shortlisting candidates.
