Government Post Graduate College, Ranikhet, (GPGC Ranikhet) an eminent institution in Almora, Uttarakhand, presents a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the college has witnessed a history of about 50 years and has been rendering quality education. In the admission process, GPGC Ranikhet aims to select deserving candidates in its diverse academic programs in arts, science, and commerce. In GPGC Ranikhet, admission is generally based on merit depending on candidates' scores in their qualifying examinations. 

The admission cycle starts in most cases sometime in August-September.  For most undergraduate programs, the least qualification is the completion of 10+2 from a recognized board. Admission to various courses is based on the percentage of marks obtained by students in their qualifying examinations. Degree-wise Admission Process

BA Programs: The college provides BA programs in several subjects like History, Sociology, Hindi, English, Economics, Political Science, Music, Geography, Mathematics, Home Science, and Sanskrit. The intake for BA programs is 480 seats. Admission to the programs is going to be given on merit of qualifying examination (10+2).

B.Sc Programs: The college runs B.Sc programs in Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, and Physics. The seats available for B.Sc programs are 320. Admission takes into account merit based on marks in 10+2 examination in science subjects.

B.Com Program: B.Com program offered at GPGC Ranikhet is with an intake of 160 seats. Admission is based on merit of qualifying examination (10+2 with Commerce or equivalent).

MA Programs: The MA Programs offered by the college are Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, English, Hindi, and Music. MA Programs have an intake of 60 seats each through selection by merit in the qualifying Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject.

M.Sc Programs: GPGC Ranikhet runs programs of M.Sc in Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Intake varies from 10 to 20 per course. Admission on the basis of merit in the qualifying Bachelor's degree in the relevant Science Subject.

M.Com Program: The M.Com program at the college has an intake of 60 seats. Admission is meritorious and will be based on B.Com or equivalent degree.

B.Ed Self Finance: This program has an intake of 50 seats. Admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, as per the policy framed by the state government and the university.
