KIMS stands for Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences which was founded in 2016 in Natekal, Karnataka. Being a co-educational institute, this college affiliated with the Mangalore University and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) which aims to provide medical education. KIMS is located at a vast piece of land, which covers an area of 25 acres; the institute has a wide programmes spectrum in the medical field of study. It offers 14 courses in three degree levels. This college has total student enrolment capacity of 600 and total faculty strength of 133 which assures a proper environment for learning for all medical aspirants.
KIMS has all the relevant equipment and establishments required for its academic activities. Students are provided with modern separate hostel facilities for boys and girls to accommodate them in private single or twin sharing basis. Attached to it is a complete library equipped with various medical literature and journals backed up by modern IT facilities in the handling of the resources. There is an expansive auditorium and playground for academics and cultural activities, hygienic multi-cuisine canteen and transport facilities to cover all areas of Mangalore city.
KIMS is offering 14 programmes all of which are on a full time basis. There is a given permission to take 150 students in the MBBS and other postgraduate courses like MD and MS courses are having fewer intakes, 2 to 5 students only. The Institute has special focus on medical education and this is reflected in a wide range of programmes that offered such as Anaesthesia, Radio Diagnosis, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine etc. This wide rangge of programmes guarantees the students many avenues through breaks to train in their preferred medical specialties.

In order to get admission in KIMS, one has to go through the standard process as laid by government of India. Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Natekal, and is affiliated to Mangalore University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The admission process at KIMS is very competitive, and, hence, it adheres to the guidelines of the Government of India. For undergraduate studies, it is based on the scores in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). For MBBS:

The method of selection mainly comes from a student's performance in any one of the above-mentioned entrance tests such as NEET-UG for getting admissions into MBBS and NEET-PG to get admission to MD/MS. Rounds for counseling will take place to whom seats would be provided by virtue of the person's merit, their choice etc.

MBBS: The KIMS college has 150 seats for its MBBS program. Admission to the course is strictly on merit basis, determined by the NEET-UG examination. Applicants must have 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
MD/MS: The institute has various MD and MS programs that have a total of 35 seats in various specializations. Admission to these programs is strictly through NEET-PG scores. The specializations available are as follows:
