KR School of Nursing is one of the prominent nursing colleges in Karnataka, India. It offers a variety of nursing programs in both diploma and undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Being one of the affiliated colleges recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), KR School of Nursing puts in place an entrance procedure that is strict in choosing competent individuals who are dedicated to pursuing different nursing courses. 

The intake period at KR School of Nursing is usually during the session, which is mostly around August-September. Dates may tend to differ every year, but the students who would be applying for the same would do so several months before the session actually begins. Eligibility criteria of KR School of Nursing differ in each program, but the candidate must have had 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as a core subject. For Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, applicants require a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). One requires a degree in B. Sc. in Nursing or the Post Basic B. Sc. in Nursing.

The institute takes into consideration academic performance in relevant subjects and, for some courses, conducts entrance exams. As KR School of Nursing is affiliated and follows INC guidelines, the admission procedure adheres to the policies of the council on this count also.

Application Process

The application process for KR School of Nursing, Bengaluru, is as follows

  •  Caste certificate, in case applying for a seat in a reserved category

5. For aspirants of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing, requisite documents will include RN/RM certificate, experience certificates, etc.

6. The institute shall verify the applications submitted and make shortlisting of candidates, based on their academic merits, besides other specific criteria for the various programmes.

7. Depending upon the specific programmes and the large number of applicants, shortlisted candidates may be called for an entrance test and/or interview.

8. Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on the candidate's performance in academics, entrance test if any, and interview.

9. Selected candidates will receive an admission offer which, if accepted by paying required fees and original documents submitted for verification, must be accepted within a given time frame.

Degree wise Admission Procedure

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): This is the entry-level course in nursing. Admission is on the basis of the candidate's performance in 10+2 or equivalent examination with science subjects.

B.Sc Nursing: This four-year undergraduate program is one of the flagship courses at KR School of Nursing. Admission is competitive and based on the candidate's 10+2 scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The institute may also conduct its own entrance test or consider scores from state-level nursing entrance exams.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This is a two-year course for registered nurses holding a GNM diploma. The admission is granted based on the candidate's academic performance in the GNM program and relevant work experience. The institute has an approved intake of 40 students for this course.

M.Sc Nursing: KR School of Nursing offers M.Sc programmes in the following five specializations. They are: Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Medical Surgical Nursing. Each specialization has five seats available. Admission is made based on candidate's score obtained in B.Sc Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and entrance test and interview.
