I have had a good experience that I will forever cherished.

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

There's a lot of room for improvement. The college needs to equip modern technologies such as projectors inside the classrooms, and good fans, internet Facility is very poor. There was no WiFi nor was there a good internet connection. However, the living spaces are well maintained including the cafeteria which is accessed by more than a thousand students. There are different varieties of foods and all of them are very hygienic. Sports facilities are also very good and well-maintained.

    Academics

I studied Master of Commerce and recently graduated. The quality of teaching is however very wide, where some of them were very energetic and sincere, and some were very slow in teaching. The syllabus is however updated but the faculty members need to be updated in many areas. The knowledge imparted to students could be improved by giving them exposure to many areas, especially finance and taxation. Students could not access many materials from the library which is one of the drawbacks.

    Placements

Many reputed firms came to the campus for placements. However, only a few were chosen among the applicants. The highest salary package offered was approximately 4.5 lakh per annum in the Commerce department. The placement process was not however easy as the candidates had to go through different stages such as technical questions which involved case studies related to the subject. The college is very supportive of all students applying for placements. A good record is maintained.

    Value for Money

Master of Commerce (Aided) costs me around 35k for two years which is comparatively cheaper than any other top commerce college in India. There are no separate fees during the course which is very convenient for all. The money paid for the course is very worth the fees paid. The morning classes which are also known as Government Aided are solely for economically backward people. However, one must score good marks in Undergraduate results.

    Campus Life

The campus has many trees which makes it cool in the extreme weather in Chennai. The college was one of the oldest institutes in Asia. It holds many memories which can be seen on the campus. The infrastructure is old but as the proverb says "Old is gold", the authority has maintained the campus at its best. It also has a Dispensary which was very helpful during the pandemic. The location of the College is a bit outskirts from the city but that could be taken as an advantage.

    Others

A lot of memories have been made in this college. There might be flaws in its administration and infrastructure, many improvements have to be made. The authority should acknowledge the fact that to survive and grow, there are many steps to be taken since there are many competitors. Funds may be one of the challenges faced, the college authority may seek help from the government.

    College Infrastructure

MCC has the best infrastructure and environment friendly nature. All the living spaces are very clean and well maintained. It's definitely a good college to learn and develop your skills. You can make the best and effective use out of these resources.

    Academics

Bcom specializing under professional accounting is what I did in my UG. The time I studied was very well instead I gave my active participation in class which led to a great position at the end of my 3rd year. Our faculty was the best .

    Placements

Placement opportunities for students here are really good but it also depends on the amount of effort put in by the students too. Our faculty will help you a lot in placement trainings and schedules. The highest package offered is around 9 LPA.

Good college with lots of personality development.

    College Infrastructure

Our college provides basic laboratory facilities for research and experimental skill development from a fundamental level. The department library is vibrant, with a good stock of quality reading material useful in research and academics. Hostels are top-notch, but the mess is a little bit overpriced. We have well-maintained labs with air-conditioners. The library has free Wi-Fi facility. Huge playgrounds are available for various sports and games.

    Academics

Teachers are good at teaching. They are well-knowledgeable, well-qualified and have a very helpful tendency. They are very caring, and they have good characters. The course curriculum is relevant to some extent which can be further improved by necessary amendments in the curriculum and content of the subjects. However, it makes the students industry-ready without causing inefficiency.

    Placements

Almost 90 to 95% of the students got placed. All courses are offered the highest salary packages. Almost 90% of the students got an internship from our course. B.Sc course is the best as compared with other courses. Plant biology and plant biotechnology are the top offered courses.Madras Christian College is a well-known college all over India. The college has many notable alumni like Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Indra Nooyi, CEO of Pepsico.

    Value for Money

Our college should provide project work in the last semester by reducing electives. I especially joined here for the environment. You won't feel like missing a class because they conduct the lectures in a great way. The course structure deals with various topics in an elaborate manner. it is totally worth for money. Our course costs little less on comparing.College is very good and lots of crowd is there and many extracurricular activities use to take place daily.

    Campus Life

There are a lot of people from all over India and abroad. Cultural events organised at our college are the best than any other colleges in India. The college gives more importance to extracurricular activities.College provides scholarship through government to the students on community basis and campus is peaceful enough to make students feel good.

    Others

Satisfied with the greenery around the campus and the facilities.

    College Infrastructure

The college has a good infrastructure of the old French style. There is a good facility for rest room, students centre, libraries, laboratories and the classrooms is also likely impressive. The hostels called here as halls are also constructed well.

    Academics

I'm studying BBA because my ambition is to become a business man. The teaching is so good with qualified professors. The subjects as well as our professors are very much updated and they give more than teaching to help us track our heading towards getting a job.

    Placements

The college has interviews of many companies and more numbers of students have been selected. I don't know the exact number of students placed from the college but about 15 students were placed only from my department.

    Value for Money

My course (BBA) costs about Rs. 70,000 a year which is divided into two semesters where we pay about Rs. 50,000 in the first semester and Rs. 20,000 in the second semester. I feel that the fee I pay usd worth the teaching because of quality of education we get.

An average college that is overrated

    College Infrastructure

Our college is one of the oldest college in whole India. The infrastructure here are quite old but the facilities provided here are really good. We have a tally lab which is really good. We also have library in our college but people don't usually go there. Then we have different grounds for different sports but in our college sports isn't encouraged at all. We have 6 halls in out college. They serve really good food here in the hall. MCC has a really big campus and they maintain it really well.

    Academics

I am currently pursuing BBA from this college. I don't think our college gives a good education to students. Most of the professors just come to college dictate same line from the book and go without explaining. The professors here are really partial towards some of the people. They stop you from enjoying and living your college life. The curriculum taught here is not really updated. Even when we have our CA's (test), they reapt the same old question again and again.

    Placements

Placement in our college is really good. I've seen my seniors getting placed in big multinational companies including Sutherland, Big bazar etc. Most of the students get placed from our college. This year the highest salary package offered in BBA department was around ₹55,000/month. People in our department get placed usually in financial field. The placement here is quite easy as I've seen most of the people getting placed easily. Our college is really supportive in terms of placement.

    Value for Money

The courses offered here are really cheap as compared to other colleges. I feel that its worth studying here in MCC. If you go to other college they charge you around 80k for 1st semester itself. In our college they charge you only 40k for 1st semester and 20k for second semester. I've only paid for 2 semesters so I really don't know much about the fee for other semesters but I've heard that they are around 20k. And 20k for a semesters is no big deal for pursing BBA from a reputed college.

    Campus Life

If you are a sports person then would appreciate you to join some other college. In MCC you there's scope only for few activities like acting, film making etc. Professors here in this college are not supportive at all. They discourage students from taking part in the activities as they believe it affects our academic. Students take their own risk to take part in activities. We have most of the event here in the campus and yes it's safe and it can handle emergencies.

    Others

One thing I forgot to tell you guys is about the Hall traditions. They are really pathetic. 1st years who join Hall are treated like slaves. They are also forced to do things even if they don't like. There are seniors who ask them to buy alcohol from shops, they are also forced to clean Hall toilets, they are forced to wear a dress code inside the Hall. If you plan to join MCC I would recommend you to rent a room outside or stay in a pg instead of staying in a Hall.

    College Infrastructure

The college has a really vast infrastructure which has been sustained for almost a century. It has all the required facilities for an arts and science college. It is highly equipped with student centre, laboratories, with 6 hostels 3 each for boys and girls. It has special grounds for cricket, hockey, athletics and also an indoor basketball court. Living spaces in madras Christian college are highly efficient and it provides really hygienic food.

    Academics

I am currently pursuing a bsc mathematics degree. I have opted for this topic as it provides a vast platform off opportunities for me in the private sector. The quality of teaching is really good in my college with highly qualified and skilled teachers. The curriculum of the college is upto date and also it has been provided 'a' grade by the NAARC rating of 2020. Yes the degree with i am pursuing makes me highly knowledgeable in various fields.

    Placements

The quality of placement has been on a decent level where a student is bound to get a package of 1.5lakhs-2.5 lakhs. The placement rate of my college is 70%.The highest placement was secured by a student of Bachelor in business administration and the package valued upto 50k per month.

    Value for Money

My course costs around 30,000 rupees per year which is an affordable amount. The money is totally worth to spend on the degree of this college.

    Campus Life

It provides a very huge campus rated among the top 5 in chennai. Even though with such a large size of the college it still manages to keep the students united which is the best quality of this college. But the wrong part of the college people from outside tamilnadu face certain discrimination in the start of the college life. The staff is really supportive and help in all aspects of a students life. It is located in TAMBARAM which is counted to be one among the safest places in Chennai.
