About Marian College of Arts and Science, Thiruvananthapuram

Marian College of Arts and Science is an affiliated college in Menamkulam, Kazhakuttom which started in 2016 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This is fairly young institution, which has grown to a credible and recognizable member of the higher education society. It is spread over 5 acres of land and has seven types of courses as part of five degree programmes being offered to an enrolled student body of 449. Currently, the college teaches 2032 students through a faculty of 32 academic staff, a ratio of 21 student to a teacher, which reliability emphasis on quality learning. The passion of this institution for excellence is demonstrated by the diversity in the existing courses that include Computer Science, Geography, Commerce and Business, Zoology, Business Administration, and English Language and Literature.

Marian College of Arts and Science owns several infrastructural units that work towards benefiting the learning process and personal development of students. Library which is one of the most important academic facilities is arranged in an accustoming large hall on the facility’s first level. It provides books of different genres and issues, besides reference section, magazines, journals, and newspapers. By design, the library can comfortably hold over one-hundred students at a go and is composed of study and research facilities. The college has a seminar hall for extracurricular activities and certain events The seminar hall has a sitting capacity of about 200 students and has been inaugurated for meetings, seminars, and club activities. It also owns campus canteen where well cooked food can be purchased under clean environment in order to provide the students and staffs with a place where they can take a break from their various activities.

Marian College of Arts and Science has, in total, seven courses which these are all full time courses. These include five undergraduate courses: Computer Science, Geography, Zoology, BBA, English Language and Literature; M.Com & B.Com Computer Applications. 

Marian College of Arts and Science has a well defined process towards admissions. For each course, fifty percent of the total seats are admitted through an online System of allotment of the University of Kerala on merit basis as per the reservation rules formulated by the Government of Kerala.

Marian College of Arts and Science, Thiruvananthapuram, has its own admission procedure well mapped out under the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The College is affiliated with the University of Kerala and offers courses in a wide array of disciplines. This admission process avails of methods that establish selection candidates in a fair and merit-based manner. As regards all courses offered in Marian College, 50% of the total seats will be filled through the online allotment system of the University of Kerala. This system is merit inclusive and adheres to the principles of reservation by the Government of Kerala. The other 50% will contain seats that the college management will fill, adhering to the guidelines provided by the Government of Kerala and the University of Kerala.

Application Process

The application process for Marian College of Arts and Science, Thiruvananthapuram is as follows:

1. For the 50% seats under University quota:

  • Application need to submit in Online Allotment System of the University of Kerala.
  • Fill in the application form given on the official website of the university.
  • Upload documents required and pay the application fees. 
  • Wait for the merit list and result of allotment

2. For the 50% management quota seats:

  • The Marian College official site which is also HTTP should be accessed.
  • Download the application form for your desired course and fill it up. 
  • Submit the filled application form at the college admission office along with required documents.
  • Pay the application fee as stated by the college.

Generally, the following documents would need to be submitted:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Caste/Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport-size recent photographs

Degree wise Admission Process

The Marian College of Arts and Sciences offers many undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The following is the admission procedure for different degrees:

B.Com Computer Applications: The same admission procedure applies whereby 50% of the seats are fulfilled by the online allotment system of the university, and the rest is provided for by the college management. A candidate for admission should have completed 10+2 in Commerce or connected subjects.

BA English Language and Literature: Admission to this course is based on the qualifying examination by the candidate (10+2) according to the same seat distribution as the other courses.

BBA Logistics: This is a special management program as per the general admission policy of the college. A candidate in his/her 10+2 is eligible for admission from any stream.

M.Com: The candidates who complete the undergraduate degree in Commerce or its related streams are eligible for this postgraduate program. Admission to the program continues to follow the previously mentioned 50-50 model of allotment by the University and management quota.

B.Sc Zoology: The Candidates with Biology in 10+2 are eligible for admission. Admission is through the standard process.

B.Sc Geography: Students with a minimum qualification of 10+2 with relevant subjects can apply for this program. The admission is through the general process of the college.

B.Sc Computer Science: For this technical program, a candidate should complete 10+2 with Mathematics. The admission procedure goes the same way as the other courses.

When i jojned the college,i didnt feel much infrastructure in that place.they converted an old seminary to this college.there were also basic bulidings and correct number of classes there.it was this year they managed to build further mote and came up with a new auditorium and some extra classes
