Mary Matha College of Arts and Science, Theni, is an affiliated college that was established in 1994. Located in Periyakulam, Nalla Karuppan Patti, Tamil Nadu, this college is affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University and is approved by UGC. Spread across a campus area of 28 acres, the college has a student enrolment of 2043 with a faculty strength of 98. Mary Matha College of Arts and Science aims at providing quality education which is evident in its NAAC accreditation. At present, the college offers a total of 25 courses under the undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma levels. 

Mary Matha College of Arts and Science aims at improving the process of learning by offering several facilities for the students to utilise. The facilities offered by the college include a modern library that functions as a knowledge centre from where students can acquire knowledge in their specific field of interest. The library is supervised by two full time librarians and offers more than 5000 books, journals, e-resources, various national newspapers, Reading Section etc. The library is open from 9 am to 5 pm everyday except on Sundays.  

The departmental laboratories such as Physics Lab, Electronics Lab, Hotel Management Lab (Restaurant), Language Lab etc. are significant parts of the institute to promote practical knowledge along with theoretical knowledge. 3 Computer Labs with 210 computers that are made available for the students. In addition to academics, the college also assures that the students are actively involved in sports and other recreational activities through various sports facilities that are established in the campus. 

In order to provide accommodation for out station students, the college offers separate girls’ and boys’ hostels. The hostels are well furnished with an intake capacity of 300 and 250 for boys and girls hostels respectively. They are equipped with a Study Room, TVs, indoor games and hostel mess facilities. An auditorium is present at the campus where students can engage in social and academic events, seminars, etc. 

At present, Mary Matha College of Arts and Science offers 25 courses. At the undergraduate level, the college offers BA, B.Sc and B.Com under various specialisations such as BA in Economics and English, B.Sc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Forensic Science etc. general B.Com and B.Com in E-Commerce and Computer Applications. Apart from these, the college also provides BCA and BBA courses. For those aiming for further studies, there are MA, M.Sc and M.Com courses available. The college also offers a diploma course i.e, PGD Sanitary Inspector. 

The admission procedure at Mary Matha College of Arts and Science is different for different courses. In general, the college follows a merit based selection system where the marks obtained by students in the qualification exams are taken into consideration. At the undergraduate level, the marks obtained in 10+2 level are accounted for while at the postgraduate level, marks acquired at the graduate level are taken into consideration.
