About NIFT Shillong
National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong campus is one of the 18 centres of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. NIFT Shillong Institute was established in 2008 as the first premier fashion institute in the Northeast. The institute offers four undergraduate courses - B.Des - Accessory Design, B.Des - Fashion Design, B.Des - Textile Design and B.Des - Fashion Communication.
National Institute of Fashion Technology Shillong also offers a two-year master of fashion management (MFM) at the postgraduate level. Admission to these programmes is offered through NIFT entrance exam. The NIFT Shillong campus is a pioneer fashion education institute in Meghalaya. The campus is spread across 28 acre area. The permanent NIFT Shillong campus has been built under the Shillong township project which also plans to host IIM, IHM, and social bodies such as the United Nations Resource Centre. The courses offered by NIFT Shillong attempt to bring traditional crafts, creativity and skills into the mainstream.
The NIFT Shillong fees varies for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The campus has a resource centre which hosts around 6500 books and is equipped with modern facilities including digital resources. Hostel and playground facilities are also available at the institute.

The new campus of NIFT Shillong is in Umsawli, Shillong. The institute is connected with a small airport in Umroi. Direct buses and taxi services are also available from Shillong to NIFT Umroi. Students can also reach NIFT Shillong using all-weather NH 40 which connects Shillong with Guwahati, Assam.

NIFT Shillong B.Des Admission Process
Candidates have to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam for B.Des
The entrance exam has three stages - Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test (ST)
Candidates clearing CAT and GAT will be eligible for the Situation test
Obtain a NIFT score that meets the NIFT Shillong cut-offs
Candidates who meet the cut-offs will have to register for NIFT counselling
Seats at NIFT Shillong will be allotted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the exam and preference for the institute
Once the seats are allocated, pay the course fee and complete the admission formalities.
