The Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, located in the city of Lucknow, is an iconic establishment in the impartation of medical education for various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the field of medicine. The admission process at Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences is highly competitive, tuned with standards laid down by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The institute primarily conducts admissions based on a national-level entrance examination so that the most deserving candidates can be selected for their programs. In the case of undergraduate courses, the main selection process runs through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). All candidates aspiring for admission to the MBBS program must pass the above-mentioned NEET examination. Generally, the admission process starts after the declaration of NEET results, when counseling will be conducted by the State Medical Authority.

For admission to postgraduate programs, the candidate must qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET PG). The dates for counselling for admission to postgraduate programs for the academic year 2025 have been set for the 1st and 2nd of January, 2025, for Round 3-processing of seat allocation. The counselling is done online, thus maintaining the meritocracy in admission for every eligible candidate. Through a merit system, admissions are based on the candidates' performance in respective entrance examinations. The NEET and NEET PG cutoff scores may vary every year based on the general performance of candidates and the availability of seats.

Application Process

The application process of Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, varies for different programs but usually requires the following steps:

1. NEET/NEET PG Qualification: Candidates must appear and qualify the respective entrance examination NEET for MBBS and NEET PG for postgraduate programs.

2. Application Submission: After the announcement of the respective entrance exam results, candidates meeting eligibility may then apply for admission to the Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences through the centralized counseling process done by the state medical authority.

3. Document Verification: Documents, including but not limited to those listed below, must be submitted by candidates in this shortlist for verification:

  • MBBS degree certificate (for PG programs)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

4. Counseling: Qualified candidates will be called based on their merit position, and then they will choose their desired course and college based on availability of seats.

5. Seat Allotment: Based on the candidate's rank, choices, and seat availability, seats will be allotted. 

6. Fee Payment: Once a seat is allotted, candidates must pay the required fees within the stipulated time to confirm their admission.

7. Medical Examination: Candidates admitted will subsequently undergo a medical examination as per the institute's guidelines.

8. Final Admission: After the completion of all the above steps, candidates will be finally enrolled in the program allotted to them at Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: Admission to the MBBS program-of 150 approved seats-at the Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences is strictly based on the merit rank of the candidate in the NEET examination. All applicants must qualify in the NEET examination for admission through counselling conducted by the State Medical Authority.

MD Anaesthesiology: The approved intake for this postgraduate program is 5 seats. Candidates seeking admission must be NEET PG qualified. Admission is based on counseling held as per NEET PG scores. 

MD General Medicine: This program has 5 approved seats and requires candidates to hold a recognized MBBS or equivalent degree. The admission to this program is through performance on NEET PG.

MS Orthopaedics: 5 seats are available for this postgraduate surgical course. Candidates for admission must be PG qualified according to NEET.

MS General Surgery: Similar to other postgraduate programs, MS General Surgery has an intake of 5 seats, with admission awarded to NEET PG qualified candidates.

MD Paediatrics: 3 seats are granted for this special postgraduate program. The candidate has to qualify NEET PG for consideration of admission.

MD Psychiatry: This program has 3 seats available, requiring candidates to qualify NEET PG for admission consideration.

MS Ophthalmology: This surgical postgraduate program has an intake of 2 seats. Admission is allowed to candidates who have qualified NEET PG.
