Prasanta Das Gupta College of Education, Burdwan was established in 2014 at Vidyanagar, West Bengal. It is a co-educational affiliated college approved by the National Council for Teacher Education and imparts professional education courses. The college has a compact campus of 0.75 acres with 107 students presently enrolled in two-degree programs. B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The two-year B.Ed program of the Prasanta Das Gupta College of Education is mainly intended for training teacher aspirants for secondary and higher secondary levels. B.Ed admissions are conducted following the affiliates' policies. The intake for this program is 100 applicants. To qualify for admission, a candidate should have a bachelor degree or equivalent degree recognized by the university.
D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): This is a two-year D.El.Ed course which prepares students for elementary teaching. The admission process for D.El.Ed is as per the policy of the concerned affiliating body. The intake capacity of the college in this regard is 50 seats. For this course, usually, the criteria are based on completion of higher secondary (10+2) from a recognized board.
The admission policy for both programs may consider the academic record in qualifying examination, performance in the entrance test considered (if applicable), and any other criterion decided by the concerned affiliating body and in accordance to NCTE guidelines.
