sure the infrastructure was good but it could do better .we had a canteen which was quite well maintained and the food was good. We had water coolers in every floor. Although the washrooms were quite clean in the morning it got really dirty by the end of the day .It was cleaned just once during the day.
The quality of education i am sure was better than most other colleges in kolkata but it could do better. Some of the faculties were really good and we could reach out to them as many times for any doubts and queries.
Nope ..not at all good. There is absolutely no scene of placements at all .To secure a job or an internship one has to apply for it externally as no companies visit the college for recruitment purposes.
1st year in 2015 it was around 40000 which went up to 44k in 3rd year.
My college did have the necessary facilities but there is a lot of space for improvement. Our college has a swimming pool which was well maintained and the living spaces were fairly clean. The infrastructure was fairly decent and well maintained
i had studied bachelor of arts. The teaching quality was good and friendly. As already mentioned the academics were average and there was no scope of job readyness involved. The teachers were really helpful which helped in academic development
There were no placement cells at the time i had passed out of the college. I hope they had improved on the placement cell. My course of BA didnt have any placement whatsoever involved as it is a graduation based course and not a job oriented course
The course cost was very cheap considering other colleges. It was worth the money.
Our extra curricular programmes were really involving and exciting too.
Overall it was a wholesome experience.
I didn't have an great experience in this college . Its seems good from outside but don't have so much space in it. Auditorium is also not sufficient to occupie all the students at once and dose have a nice caffetaria
I am studying for my honor degree and study at shikshayatan is fine . Have qualified teachers and education system is great here . They thrive to provide better lessons and life to there students and that is why i came here
Not so great in providing placements to there students and many students gets rejected . They only aims to give placements to there bright student's and dosen't focus on less ones. Many good companies don't come here
Non
Dosen't exists
Don't go here
The college has good infrastructure with well maintained classrooms and have clean spaces with hygienic cafeteria. The college has proper WiFi and it works fine too but the access is restricted. It has one of the largest libraries in Kolkata.
I did my Bcom Honours in Accounting and Finance from this college. It's a three year course. I was in the morning batch 2014-2017. The college falls under Calcutta University and the curriculum is regularly updated to match with the real world applicability.
The placement cell looks after the placement and does a good job at it. I was studying other courses too so did not apply for the placement but my friends did and we're satisfied with its placement activities.
I paid 50k approx for a year and compared to other colleges it's at standard rate. Compared to the other colleges it was worth the money
It has alot of activities students can engaged in. Not to forget it's annual fest Srijan. Teachers and staff are very supporting. It's in the main hub of the city and very safe.
The college is well equipped with all the necessary technologies and with Wifi. It's absolutely clean and well maintained. There's a separate team of people who look into all these matters relating to maintenance.
The teachers are quite good and help with the subject matter and provide nice notes to help the students. The teachers are well versed with economics , accountancy ,law, audit , mathematics and other subjects as and when required.
Mostly people who applied for placements were guided by HOD's in getting through the placements! Companies like PWC, Stock exchange of Kolkata were present. Students were taught how to make their CV's as well.
It costs approximately 1.2 lacs for 3 years of BCOM. I think I costs too much for a bcom degree. But if you want a hassle free and good environment for 3 years with good people SSY is the place you would want to be.
We have a swimming pool and a common room, a canteen and everything where students Hangout. The teachers are good except SM mam who was the HOD of commerce department .She puts false allegations on several students even costing there convocation.
It was a nice experience except the convocation where we weren't allowed to enter the auditorium even though we were marked present due to the evil SM mam who over rode the principal's instructions and did not let us attend the convocation ceremony .
Infrastructure is not something to boast about but facilities are quite good. Full air conditioned classes ( a huge relief in summers to beat the heat of this city) . Smart boards and mics are available in every class but are not frequently used ( depends upon the teacher). There are all kinds of lab with necessary equipments. Library is well updated with latest editions of books to cater the needs of the students. Washrooms are clean, hygenic & well maintained.
I am a final year B.com (Accounting & Finance hons) student. Teaching quality is pretty decent. The curriculum is governed by Calcutta University so if we compare it with top univ. such as DU it is not at par with it . Although there have been recent changes in it but still there remains a scope for further improvement. The curriculum is not something which can make the students job ready as it does not stress on gaining practical exposure or knowledge , soft skills etc.
Cannot say much about this as I didn't sit for the placement due to some reasons. But what I know is there is a Placement Cell which provides assistance and guidance for students to sit in placements. Students got placements in companies such as PWC , SDC ,Delloite, Omnifim Solutions , Decathlon from my batch i.e. B.com hons in Accounting & Finance 2020 batch. Cannot tell about the past records.
The cost of my course was around Rs50,000 per year i.e 2 semsters. It charged collectively for both of them. The fees is very economical as compared to other pvt colleges offering the same course. It is value for money as facilities like full ac class & geniune teachers with such low price is not something which is provided in all colleges.
The best thing about this college is its location. Located in 11 lord Sinha Rd which is 3-4 min. away from Exide bus stop and Rabindra Sadan metro 2 of the most used and convenient means of tranport in this city. Students get to participate in various intra college events and clubs like Entrepreneurship Cell, Leadership Training Scheme focusing on building their skills in such areas. Teachers are friendly and approachable.
After my 12th, i was confused to which college shall i join. I scored good in boards so i wanted to join the best college. Shri Shikshayatan was on my top list. So i thought of visiting the campus. It is a huge campus with huge ground. Classes are big in size which can easily accommodate around 150-200 studets. It has library which has all kinds of books. Computer room can accommodate many students at one go. It has swimming pool and canteen, my favorite part. There is no littering at all.
I was in Bcom Hons. I chose commerce in my 12. For bcom shri Shikshayatan is best college. It has very qualified teachers. They are more of a facilitator than a teacher. They are very friendly. The curriculum is also up to date. It helped me in my real life.
After college, i preferred to do MBA. I wanted to do MBA from a good college. And doing bcom from Shri Shikshayatan helped me in joining the best MBA college. As background does matter in MBA. College is very supportive in placement. U didn't sit for placements as i wanted to do further studies
Shri Shikshayatan College has a very good infrastructure. It consists of modernised A.C classrooms with projectors. It is fully under serveillance. The library is equipped with latest books with computer lab facilities as well. The laboratories are well equipped with modern day facilities. The gym is also equipped with modern equipments in a good state. The washroom is always clean.Smart boards are also installed. You will not find a single place dirty or unhygienic.Canteen is awesome!
I am studyimg B.com(h) in Accounting & Finance.I was always interested in Finance. There are very good teachers in my college who are always supportive. They make studies very fun & interesting. The curriculum is updated.A strong base in undergraduation surely helps in future studies.Placement is also provided by the college. If you take advantage of the opportunity you will land up with a good job as well.
Placements take place in my college where a good number of companies arrive.Companies like Omnifin Solutions,Mohit educomp & Pvt. ltd. ,Deloitte,Emami and a lot more. The average salary offered was 1.2 lakhs. The placement process is very supportive. You will not feel all alone in the process. The college placement cell is always there to assist you.
First year fees was Rs. 44000.Second year-Rs. 46000 Third year-Rs. 48000. Total- Rs. Rs. 138000.The college is worth the money put in.It gives you a good atmosphere to study and be future ready. You will lucky to be an alumini of this prestigious to be an alumini of Shri Shikshayatan College after you passout. The teachers, staff, seniors, classmates make it an enjoyable & enriching journey.
The campus is well equipped with modern day facilities. The best features include peaceful library, gym, computer lab, canteen and classrooms. There is as such no worst feature.Students can engage in E-cell,NSS,LTS and many more cells.Throughout the year there is some or other activity revolved. You can participate in Annual programs,SRIJAN etc.The students, teachers & staff are very supportive. The location is the best.It is very safe. The college has emergency fire fighting devices and handle emergency
The institution boasts a state of the art infrastructure and has air-conditioned classrooms, alongside an air-conditioned canteen, a common room with equipment of the gymnasium. The college also has a swimming pool and an open space with a basketball and a throwball court for students to cool themselves off after classes. The journalism laboratory boasts of having MAC labs and state of the art laboratories for students to give them a decent exposure.
As a student of journalism and mass communication, I must admit that the curriculum lags behind in the real world if we talk about practicality, the academicians are however not strictly disciplinarian, which is quite contrary to what the popular opinion of the institution outside, the teachers never come on time and during our semester 1 examinations in the first core course paper, we had almost 65% of the syllabus uncovered. Needless to mention, the syllabus is not at all job-market ready.
The placements in the college would be less than satisfactory and the pay package is an extremely low return with respect to the fees taken by the institution every year in the name of tuition fees and other miscellaneous fees.
The fees per semester for BA Journalism and Mass Communication is around thirty thousand INR, which roughly stands to sixty thousand INR per year, with this amount of money, I really do not think the college is meeting proper teaching-learning standards when it comes to this particular course. Needless to say, the syllabus for Journalism in Calcutta University is extremely backdated.
There is no campus per se, all the pictures on the website are a hoax, honestly, since Shri Shikshayatan College falls under the premise of Shri Shikshayatan School and is one huge building. The support staff is extremely rude most of the time and the canteen remains closed during Saturdays, and after 3 pm, which is another huge disadvantage. There are two clubs- the Debating Club and the Bengali Literary Society which is extremely and equally inactive.
Hello aspirant,
The college issues the schedule of the admission process. Every event takes place accordingly. However, there is no official announcement about the admission yet. Therefore, take tentative dates into consideration. Online Application Forms can be released in the month of August 2021. And then 1st merit list can also be published in the month of August, 2021.
Hope this helps,
All the Best!!
