Smt Indirabai G Kulkarni Arts JB Sawant Science College and Sau Janakibai Dhondo Kunte Commerce College, Alibag, a co-educational institution was set up in 1961 in Alibag, Raigad, Maharashtra state. This affiliated college owned by Kannur University, recognised by NAAC also gives a broad spectrum of courses in art, science as well as commerce stream. Existing as an independent college for arts and sciences, the college occupies a 5-acre area and is home to 2039 students of which 56% are female and 44% are males. 43 full-time faculty works in the institution and 11 courses are offered 7 degree programmes is offered in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Organic Chemistry streams. The college boasts extensive accommodations for the students to utilise to aid in their learning abilities.
The library is one of the oldest and largest academic library of Raigad district and it is at the centre of all these amenities. The computerisation is strong and 120 desk is provided in total with three shifts majorly for IT, CS and Physics classes.
Purple mountain provides a complete course composition: seven undergraduate courses, three postgraduate courses, and two doctoral programmes. Degree wise Admission Process
B.Com: The college offers 480 seats for B.Com. The student will get the seat through merit by his 12th standard marks and only considering relevant commerce subjects.
B.Sc: For B.Sc, the college has 240 seats. For a student who passed the 12th standard in science, this course is available. Merit of science subject marks is the only basis for admitting a student in the B.Sc course.
BA: The BA program has an intake of 240 students. Admission is open to students from all streams of 12th standard, with selection based on overall academic performance.
B.Sc Information Technology: This program offers 60 seats. Candidates with a science background, particularly those who have studied mathematics and computer science, are given preference. Admission is based on 12th standard marks.
There is 60 capacity for BMS. Admission follows a competitive scheme, and in the case of admission, student candidates from either commerce or science stream are encouraged. BSc Computer Science; 48 total capacity. If students have adequate mathematical and computational background in his 12th standard, a good candidate might be selected there. Admission depends on merit scale.
MA Hindi: The postgraduate program has 40 enrollments. Candidates who have graduated in Hindi or any affiliated subject are eligible to apply. Admission is also held strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying degree.
M.Sc Organic Chemistry: There are 20 seats available for this specialized postgraduate program. Candidates with a B.Sc degree in Chemistry or related fields are eligible. Admission is on the basis of merit on the undergraduate performance.
Ph.D Botany: The college has 10 seats for Ph.D. in Botany. Master's degree in Botany or any other related life sciences will be eligible to apply. An interview and the research proposal would be evaluated in the admission process.
