St. Thomas College of Teacher Education profiles itself as an institute of education and teacher training located in Pala, Kottayam, Kerala, that begun in 1957. NAAC recognised, this is an affiliated college and NCTE approves this college as per National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993. Located on the limited area of 1.92 acre, the college provides three programmes in Special Teacher Education with the total number of students 223. The institute has a well qualified faculty of thirty members and has a healthy student-teacher ratio. St. Thomas College of Teacher Education is concerned with training quality teachers for the future through our programmes such as B.Ed, M.Ed, and D.El.Ed.

The campus also has its hostels for both boys and girls to ensure adequate host and lodging to those students who prefer residing in campus. It also offers two postgraduate courses M.Ed and D.El.Ed, for which 50 students are admitted each year. Every course takes at least two years to complete in an effort to equip all prospective teachers adequately.
