The State Institute of Physical Education for Women, Kolkata was established in the year 1975. It's the first premier institution to foster excellence in physical education among women. This is an affiliated college located at Hastings House, Alipore, in the heart of Kolkata, situated on 29.54 acres. This institute is approved by NCTE and has specialized programs meant only for females. The institute presently has an enrolment of 103 students and a faculty strength of 8; hence, the institute still maintains an intimate learning environment.

Students at State Institute of Physical Education for Women get a wide range of modern amenities that aid their learning process. There is a well-equipped gymnasium for practical training in physical education. The library stands resourceful and acts as a knowledge hub with a huge stock of books on academics. Entrance test for admission to both B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed courses is conducted with limited seats available. Application Process

The application process for both B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed comprising the State Institute of Physical Education for Women, Kolkata, includes the following stages:

Degree wise Admission Process

B.P.Ed (Bachelor of Physical Education): The B.P.Ed program is a two-year undergraduate program offered by the State Institute of Physical Education for Women. It is the backbone of the undergraduate courses of the institute of which 100 seats are allotted per year. The admission for the B.P.Ed program entails an admission test. No specific eligibility criteria have been laid down; however, usually a candidate is expected to have completed his/her 10+2 from any recognized board.

M.P.Ed (Master of Physical Education): The M.P.Ed program is a two-year postgraduate course offered by the institute. It is directed at those who wish to undertake specialized studies in physical education. The program admits 40 students annually. As in the case of B.P.Ed, admission into M.P.Ed is solely through an admission test. Generally, candidates possessing a B.P.Ed or an equivalent degree are entitled to apply for this program.
