About SVS College of Engineering, Coimbatore

SVS College of Engineering (SVSCE) came into existence in 2009 and is one of the most prestigious engineering college situated in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This co-ed affiliated college provides the course of engineering in the undergraduate as well as postgraduate level here. Established in 1999, SVSCE extends over 36 acres of land and has recently been granted accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to the prospects of the college, the students enrolment is 1001 with 786 male students and 216 female students. It provides 11 programmes in three degrees and has a critical mass of total qualified faculty members assigned to SVSCE as 73.

SVS College of Engineering has a number of contemporary amenities available to facilitate learning in its students. Well-equipped laboratories for each department are available in the campus to provide real practical sessions. The five thousand, five hundred square centre of learning, the library comprises of more than twenty-seven thousand books and sixty learned journals of the research periodicals. SVSCE includes the said facilities which are a highly advanced Information Technology Network equipped with more than 1000 individual PCs in different specified laboratories including CAD, Microprocessor, and Simulation laboratories.

To meet the interests of learners, SVSCE provides a wide and excellent scope of engineering programmes. The college offer six BE programmes and four ME programmes besides the doctorate programmes. The undergraduate programme offered are Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering. This range includes the following postgraduate courses: Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design, Structural Engineering, and VLSI Design. The total student intake for all courses is 1,001 and in BE Mechanical Engineering intake is 180.

SVSCE follows merit based admission with norms prescribed by Anna University, Chennai. Undergraduate programmes are offered through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) through the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Tamil Nadu. It was also observed that most of the postgraduate admissions are carried through TANCET or CEETA-PG which stands for common engineering entrance test and admission. SVS College of Engineering, Coimbatore Admission

Registration for SVS College of Engineering (SVSCE), Coimbatore at the time of completion of its form submission, is amongst the top engineering colleges, which follows a completely complete admission process to very many graduate and undergraduate courses across a variety of engineering branches. Merit-based admission systems are prescribed by the law of Anna University Chennai. Undergraduate Programs: Admission is carried out through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) process carried out by the Directorate Of Technical Education (DOTE) Tamil Nadu, and it undergoes a fair and transparent assessment for admission procedures.

Postgraduate admissions at SVSCE are on the results of either the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) or the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA-PG). Thus, through these entrance examinations, common measures of the aptitudes and knowledge of the candidates in their respective areas are established. It usually starts about four months before the beginning of the academic year, which is from August-September. Students should therefore keep track of the TNEA, TANCET, and CEETA-PG dates and application schedules from around early January to ensure eligibility for potential acceptance at PTU.

Application Process

The application processes at SVS College of Engineering differ according to the level:

For B.E. Programs:

  1. Qualifying in the 10+2 examination in required subjects and with minimum marks.
  2. Register for the TNEA counselling process through the official TNEA website.
  3. Fill in the TNEA application form with all personal and academic details.
  4. Upload the required documents of 10+2 mark sheets, community certificate (if any), and any other relevant documents.
  5. Pay the TNEA application fee.
  6. Wait for publishing the TNEA rank list.
  7. Attend TNEA counselling for SVSCE and course of choice as per individual rank.
  8. If allotted a seat, report to SVSCE for verification of documents and confirmation of admission.

For M.E. Programs:

  1. Attend either the TANCET or the CEETA-PG exam.
  2. Register on the respective admission portal (TANCET/CEETA-PG) after publishing result.
  3. Fill up the application for SVSCE mentioning the opted M.E. programs.
  4. Upload necessary documents including B.E./B.Tech degree certificate, mark sheets, and TANCET/CEETA-PG score card.
  5. Pay the application fee as instructed by college.
  6. Attend the counselling or interview if summoned by the college.
  7.  If selected, proceed to the final stage of the admission process with payment of requisite fees and original document submission.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. Programs : SVSCE offers six B.E. programs: Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Petrochemical Engineering. Admission into these programs is made through the TNEA counselling process. Candidates also need to complete their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. The intake capacity varies with varieties of programs in BEC, while in Mechanical Engineering the maximum intake is 180.

M.E. Programs: It offers Computer Science and Engineering; Engineering Design; Structural Engineering; and VLSI Design. Admission to M.E. programs is granted based on the marks obtained by the applicant in either TANCET or CEETA-PG. To be eligible, candidates must meet the prerequisite of possessing a current relevant B.E./B.Tech degree. Each course has a total intake capacity of 18 seats.

Ph.D. Program: Mechanical Engineering currently educates Ph.D. students. No details regarding admission to the doctoral program were given, but it probably encompasses some special application process involving an entrance examination and/or interview.
