M.Sc. Bioinformatics was started in the year 2005. The massive amount of information generated in biology with the advent of the Human Genome Project needs to be retrieved, analyzed, interpreted and stored. The Internet and the databases which are the repositories of this information was a suitable medium for handling biological data. The course was started with the objective to nurture talented students in this field keeping in mind the requirement of trained personnel in this industry. Bioinformatics is definitely a subject to look forward into the future and has vastly expanded into several sub-disciplines and is the major thrust area in research and therapy.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate who has passed Bachelor degree of 3 years duration (B.Sc. or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized university.

- Admissions are done by the M.G. University on a centralized basis through the Centralized Allotment Process.
- Management Quota seats will be filled by the Management and emphasis will be given on merit of the candidate.
