The University College of Law, Kakatiya University, Warangal is the first constituent college situated in the Campus, Subedari, Warangal, Telangana. The institution was established under the Kakatiya University, and has been moulding legal brains for quite some time now. It is duly approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) this makes it easier for the college to maintain a strict quality education for its students in law. As a college, it is located on a larger piece of land that occupies 650 acres and this provides a good ground on which the college can develop properly. 8 courses in 4 degrees programmes offered by it make the institution to address almost every concern in the legal education. The college continues to admit students of both gender with a view of training those interested in law.
As a constituent college under the University College of Law makes maximum efforts in providing qualitative infrastructural facilities for the improvement of students’ learning paradigms. The college is well equipped with a well stocked library that has been in service since 1967. It is not only prepares to fulfil the need of the college students but also assists scholars of other college under the umbrella of Kakatiya University. For the florish of proficient techniques of the future lawyer, the college has arranged the moot court which provides the students different courtroom scenarios. The institution also recognised and supports technological capability by having great IT infrastructure to enhance student preparedness for the world’s technological future. Necessary for an overall growth, the college has well equipped sports facilities; thus, so as to equally balance student’s academic and physical activities. Also, the college has medical amenities contained in its Health Centre, established in 1976 and availably for students and members of staff.
The University College of Law provides full service of legal education programmes. The institution offers eight programmes with both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These courses are foremost, full time programmes that enable the students acquire deep ideas and understanding along with the skills essential in the field of law. Some of the promotion degrees learnt in the college include the LLB (3 years) with eighty sit and BA LLB (5 years integrated course) with sixty sit, and several LLM specific programmes each with ten sit. These LLM programmes include; Corporate and Securities Laws, Criminal Law, Labour Law, Human Rights Laws, Intellectual Property Laws etc. The college also has a Ph.D. programme in Law for candidates intending to do their research on the laws of the country.
Admission into the University College of Law is competitive and system oriented. For the under graduate programmes such as LLB and BA LLB, admission is offered through Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET). Admissions are only granted to students who pass this entrance examination to intending fresh students. All the LLM courses offered in postgraduate programmes for candidates appear for the Telangana State Post Graduate Law Common Entrance Test (TS PGLCET). The college blindly honors the merit list that comes out of these entrance exams but at the same time it is bound by statutory regulations on reservation policy for certain categories of candidates. Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Law, being established in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, is a constituent college that provides legal education to aspiring law students. It was established by the Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation with an aim toward quality legal education and also producing competent legal professionals. Admission to AVIL is based on a selection process to ensure that the dedicated and talented students become passionate law students for their profession.
The admission cycle for Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Law is usually aligned with the academic calendar of Indian law schools. Applications usually open in the early months of the year for the academic session that starts in August/September.
Eligibility criteria for entry into the law programs offered at AVIL generally conform to the Bar Council of India's norms. For undergraduate law programs, applicants must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with an aggregate of at least 45% marks for all subjects taken (40% in case of SC/ST candidates). 4. Entrance Exam/Interview: If there is any entrance exam required by the course, or according to the policy of the institutes, candidates must face the interview, which serves as a screening procedure.
5. Merit List: The selected candidates will be published in a merit list on the website and notice board of AVIL, post evaluation of applications, score of entrance exam if applicable, and interviews conducted by AVIL.
6. Document Verification: The short-listed candidates will be called to AVIL for physical document verification. They must carry original copies of all the documents that were submitted by them.
7. Payment of fee and confirmation: Admission fee payment of the selected candidate within a set time would be required as proof of seat reservation at AVIL.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.A. LL.B. (Hons.): This is a five-year integrated undergraduate degree in law. Admission to this program would be based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination (10+2) and/or a relevant law entrance exam. The program is an integration of arts subjects with legal studies, thus providing a holistic foundation for aspiring lawyers.
LL.B.: This is an undergraduate three-year law program offered to graduates of any discipline. Admissions may be granted on graduation marks and/or performance in the entrance exam of the law entrance. The LL.B. emphasizes core legal subjects and practical legal skills.
LL.M.: This is a postgraduate law course, which usually lasts for one or two years. Admission to the LL.M. course is usually on the basis of marks secured by the candidate in his LL.B. degree and also on the basis of personal interview or entrance test conducted by the institute.
