Vigyaan College of Applied Sciences (VICAS), was started in 2012 and it is a first grade college affiliated with the University of Kerala and situated in Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This is a co-educational institution, occupying an area of 12 acres of land and has expanded the variety of programmes offered for students’ interest. As of the current population, VICAS has 362 students enroled and 20 qualified faculty members on the staff. At present, the college offers 8 courses in 7 degree programmes namely Commerce, Computer Applications, Business Administration and Humanities.
The college has facilities in providing its students the best experience. A fully computerised and automated system is evident in the school with a computerised library containing reference as well as general sections manned by a qualified librarian. For the technological students, VICAS has put in place two computer laboratories fitted with broad band internet connection to make sure the students gets quality computer education from the faculty. The college also focuses on health as a core human asset as it provides sports amenities for all the students in order to achieve a perfect blend of learning and physical fitness.
The college has a spacious and hygienic, cafeteria for students and staff, an auditorium for hosting events and seminars, transportation facilities for inter-connecting major areas of Thiruvananthapuram District. Pursuant to the objectives to improve community and continuous training, training provides for an active alumni network for VICAS. Extra curriculum activities and various clubs of the college are also supported in order to create a comprehensive education.
At VICAS, students can get any type of degree starting from an undergraduate degree up to a postgraduate degree. The college is offering 6 full-time undergraduate courses as well as 2 full-time postgraduate courses. The total number of students admitted to all programmes is 362 to make sure that we retain a reasonable students to faculty ratio for teaching and learning.

Admission Policy of Vigyaan College of Applied Sciences admits students on merit basis and all the students candidates are divided in general and other reserved categories. The college admits students in accordance to the structural admission guidelines for each course. For example, the Master of Social Work (MSW) programme requires the admission test called CAT conducted by the university and Group Discussion and Interview to be conducted at the college level. The interview is always chaired by the Principal, has a nominee from a University, and the Head of the discipline under consideration to make sure each candidate gets a good review.
