VMKVEC Salem: Admission 2025, Courses, Fees, Cutoff, Placements, Ranking

VMKVEC is a center of engineering and technology excellence located in Salem, India. It is an organized and well-planned admission protocol as prescribed by the Supreme Court of India, the Government of India, and the Government of Tamil Nadu for the college. Usually, the admissions for VMKVEC are scheduled following the academic calendar, mostly beginning in the month of August-September. The undergraduate admissions predominantly depend on the results of the national/state-level entrance examinations and merit of the candidates. The postgraduate admissions base on the entrance examinations in TANCET for MBA, and CEETA-PG for M.E./M.Tech programs. The study programs being either for undergraduate or postgraduate, differ in the standards for eligibility. 

In case of the undergraduate engineering programs, the prospective candidates must pass their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and should with a minimum aggregate of about 50% marks in the qualifying examination.  Based on various scores attained either on national or any of the state-level entrance examinations, admissions are provided. The undergraduate program primarily emphasizes performance in the state-level engineering entrance examinations. As an example, consideration is given to TANCET scores for the MBA program among the postgraduate programs and the CEETA-PG scores apply for ME/M.Tech programs.

Application Process

Application processes at VMKVEC vary with the program category:

1. B.E. and B.Tech:

• Qualify in the respective state-level engineering entrance exam.
• Apply through the centralized counseling process conducted by the state authorities.
• Choose VMKVEC and preferred courses during counseling.
• If allotted a seat, report to VMKVEC for verification of documents and payment of fees.

2. M.E. and M.Tech:

• Qualify CEETA-PG examination.
• Apply either directly to VMKVEC or through the centralized counseling process, as applicable.
• Report to the college for interview or other additional tests.
• Once selected, complete all admission formalities at MVKVEC.

3. MBA:

• Sit for TANCET
• Apply to the MBA program of VMKVEC.
• Students who are shortlisted will take part in the subsequent selection rounds.
•  Admissions will be completed through the college for selected candidates.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E./B.Tech: VMKVEC runs 14 undergraduate engineering programs, and the most coveted branches of these programs are Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Student admission depends on a combination of performance on various entrance examinations and 10+2 marks. For B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, 120 seats are available for each; other programs have different seat capacities.

M.E./M.Tech Programs: The college runs 9 postgraduate engineering programs; it also includes specialized programs like Power System Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and VLSI Design. Admission into these programs is primarily done based on CEETA-PG scores, followed maybe by an interview round. A person is eligible to be admitted if he/she has a B.E./B.Tech degree in the same field. An intake is considered to be 18 seats for an M.E. program.

MBA: An MBA program is conducted by VMKVEC through the Department of Management Studies. Admissions here are primarily based on the scores of TANCET. Some shortlisted candidates may have further selection rounds, which could include a written test and/or personal interview. The intake for MBA is 60.
