Diploma Admission

The candidates who pass X Standard or equivalent examinations with Mathematics and Science subjects are eligible for admission into Polytechnic Colleges. There is no age restriction to join the Diploma Courses with effect from the academic year. Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu alone will be considered for admission to these courses. Students from other states may be considered for admission as per the regulations and guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu.
Candidates for admission in a three-year diploma shall be required to have passed the 10th S.S.L.C Examination (or) The Anglo Indian School Examination with eligibility for a Higher Secondary Course in Tamil Nadu (or) any other examination recognized as equivalent to the above by the Board of Secondary Education Tamil Nadu.

Lateral Entry Admission (II Year)

For Lateral Entry into the Second year (third semester) of the three-year diploma courses, the candidates shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational) of 10 plus 2 pattern, with the following conditions :
i. Academic Stream candidates should have compulsorily studied Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at 10 + 2 level.
ii. Vocational Stream candidates should have studied either Maths or Physics Chemistry as one of the subjects of study along with the related Vocational Subject (Theory & Practical) at 10 + 2 level.
iii. HSC / 10th std with 2 years ITI students can directly join the second year of the three-year Diploma program
Their intake is restricted to 20% (10% for Academic + 10% for Vocational) of the sanctioned intake of the I-Year Diploma Courses. There is no age limit for admission.
