What is SWAYAM Pass Marks Out of 100?

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has announced the passing marks for the SWAYAM result to be 40 per cent or above. Candidates who will secure the minimum marks of 40 per cent consist of 25 per cent of the assignment and 75 per cent of the written exam.

SWAYAM Passing Weightages

There are two parts to get qualified for the SWAYAM certificate, which are the weekly assessments and the final exam. The SWAYAM weekly assessments hold 25% weightage and the final exam holds 75% weightage in the final marking process.

SWAYAM Passing Marks for Weekly Assessments

Students enrolled in SWAYAM courses are required to submit the weekly assessments regularly till the duration of their chosen courses. Those who fail to score the minimum SWAYAM weekly assessment marks required would not be allowed to download the SWAYAM certificate. The SWAYAM assessment passing marks are 25%, which is 10 out of 40 marks.

SWAYAM Passing Marks for Written Exam

At the end of the course duration, all enrolled students are required to appear for the written exam to complete their course. Candidates are required to secure the SWAYAM written exam passing marks to qualify for the programme. The SWAYAM passing mark for the written exam is 40%, which is 30 out of 40 marks.

What is SWAYAM Grades?

Based on the performance in the weekly assessments and written exam, students are provided with grades at the end of the course. Each SWAYAM course has a specific number of credits assigned to it, and the final grade for the course is determined by the weighted average of all the assessments undertaken during the programme.

Swayam Exam Marking Scheme

  • There will be no negative marking for any wrong answer in the MCQ sections.
  • Unanswered/unattempted questions will be given no mark/marks.
  • If a question is found to be incorrect/ambiguous or has multiple correct answers, only those candidates who have attempted the question and chosen one of the correct answers will be given the mark.
  • If a question is found to be incorrect and the Question is dropped, then mark/marks will be awarded to only those candidates who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.

What if I fail in the SWAYAM exam?

If a candidate fails in the SWAYAM exam, they won't get a certificate and may have to re-register for the proctored exam at a later date. The specific consequences depend on whether the candidate was enrolled for credit or simply to get a certificate.
