Module 1 - What Makes a Successful Trainer

  • The course begins with an outline of what it is the professional trainer does, exploring the key qualities, traits and attitudes of the adult educators.  
  • Candidates are guided through the primary differences between adult learning and primary education, while discussing the importance of adult education/training in general.

Module 2 - The Learning Process

  • Course Module 2 dissects and discusses the adult learning process, introducing candidates to a variety of different learning styles.  
  • A breakdown of the ‘four step’ learning process is provided, along with how different adults approach further education and training in very different ways.

Module 3 - Applying the Learning Cycle

  • The following module focuses on how to effectively apply the learning cycle, incorporating an exploration of extraverts and introverts from the perspective of the professional trainer.  
  • Candidates are guided through the practical application of essential adult learning theory.

Module 4 - The Training Process

  • Course content in Module 4 explores the six most important steps in the professional training process, along with the overriding importance of comprehensive planning.  
  • Additional subtopics introduced include audience analysis, content research, strategic training method selection and more.

Module 5 - Designing a Learning Sequence

  • Bringing structure and order to the training process forms the primary core focus of Module 5.  
  • Along with a discussion of the importance of an effective and engaging structure, candidates explore a variety of strategies for enhancing engagement – including the use of games and other interactive activities.

Module 6 - Presentation Skills

  • How to build, enhance and continually refine presentation skills is explored in-depth in the following module. 
  • Core concepts covered include how to effectively use visual aids and props, the important distinction between ‘telling’ and ‘showing’, dealing with difficult situations and more.

Module 7 - On-the-Job Training

  • Bringing the course to a conclusion, Module 7 focuses on the role and value of on-the-job training as an alternative/addition to standard classroom/workshop training.  
  • The four most important stages of the job training process are also introduced and discussed.
