You should wait till you get any notification from college side.As anything could happen in your favor as your rank is too close.You have chance of getting seat in it as it is not necessary that all students will allot seat.So wait... Don't worry about hostel you can allot hostel in anytime if there will be free space in it..

Banaras Hindu University is one of the most sought after Universities and so the competition is high. They have reserved hostel seats for every department in particular. With 43 hostel rank you have a good chance of getting a seat in the hostel.

You rank in Banaras Hindu University PET for Master of Arts A.I.H.C & A. is 180 in general category and 76 in OBC while it is 98 in male category which makes you eligible to secure a seat in Banaras Hindu University in their second round of counselling or third round of counselling depending on how many seats remain empty after the first round of counselling. The cut off does not usually go that far as your current rank of 990 in the general category and also in the OBC category with a rank of 480. The competition being very tough and the number of seats being very less and compared to the number of applicants, it is almost not possible to get a seat with a rank close to 1000. You should look for other colleges.

BHU provides numerous courses of post graduation with varying no. Of seats. Selction may be predicted with you secured rank if your course has around 100 seats but with having seats of around 30-40 it is difficult to get selected.
