Should I prepare for CUCET or DUET if I want to pursue maths honours from DU? And how should I prepare for the same as a class 12th student?

pdwords Student Expert 31st Jan, 2022

Hello,

See last year that is in 2021 it was being expected that admission of Delhi University for undergraduate courses will be done through CUCET, in fact many such central universities were to take the same route which eventually didn't happen, admission to Delhi University for ug courses is largely based on the merit of the qualifying examination, except few courses for which admission is done through entrance test, BSc Math Hons doesn't fall in such category, at least of now we can say, it's tough to make exact predictions what route CUCET and DU will take this year unless there is an official announcement made for the same, only after it you can get to know the detailed syllabus that will be released with official notification, generally speaking the entrance test syllabus of ug course is based on 10+2 level, you must be thorough with your subject, other than this there may be questions from gk/reasoning/english, this is just a general overview I've mentioned going by the trends, you have to wait out for the official notification to know the exact details for the same, if you wish to explore more details about CUCET, then you may visit our page at https://university.careers360.com/articles/cucet-syllabus

Do I have to clear DUET in order to get admission with B.A. Economics Honours in Delhi University?

Piyush 3rd Jan, 2022

hello aspirant,

I hope that you are doing absolutely great.

With reference to your above mentioned query, i would like to tell you that there is no entrance exam to get admission in Delhi University for B.A or Bsc Hons courses. So, you can easily get admission in Delhi University for B.A and B.sc hons courses only by merit basis.

After giving DUET ( Delhi University Entrance Test) you can get admission into all these below course :

BTech , B.A Hons , L.L.B , L.L.M. , B.A., B.M.S. , M.A., M.C.A, M.S.C. And for other courses, except the above mentioned courses, you will get admission on the basis of your merit .

further, if you want to know complete information( eligibility criteria) about the merit based admission in B.A. Economics (Hons.) course then I have listed them below :

  • An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

  • The merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/elective subjects.

  • The applicants must have studied and passed Mathematics at the qualifying exam for admission to B.A. (Honours) in Economics.

My DUET Msc zoology score is 169 with 7.56 CGPA . I wish i had done better . i also appearef for Msc plant biotech with 180 score ,and im on ST category. what are the chances i get a college ? in masters does a good college name count for our education or is it just a name sake ?

Amisha Kumari 24th Nov, 2021

HI,

You've scored relaively good marks. You can expect your name is either second or third cutoff for the course of MSc Plant Biotechnology, because as of now the first cutoff list is released by DU in which the cutoof for ST category has gone 205. So, usually it comes down till third fourth cutoff. Just be patient and wait for the cutoff lists.

Your chances in MSc zoology are not that good as the cutoff for your category is around 231. You can expect it to go down but till the cutoff will reach around your score..there might not be seats left. But hope for the best. there is still chance that you might get into this.

And the answer to your last question, yes it is important to do your Masters from a reputed college or university. As it displays your hard work, skill and if you're pursuing masters from a reputed college then you get a hell lot of more opportunities as comapred to a low-grade college.
