How to prepare for current affairs for clat exam?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 30th Aug, 2019

Hello there!

Greetings!

In Current Affairs, some topics have traditionally appeared more frequently than others. These areas are Appointments, Awards, Sports, Days and Dates and Legal GK, than Controversies, Removals, MoUs etc. Thus, a student should study these topics thoroughly to prepare for CLAT current affairs section. However, this is merely as per the trend of previous years’, which might change this year. Therefore, candidates should not completely ignore the latter topics but go in-depth of the former topics.

  • Candidates should ensure that they devote 40 to 60 minutes to Current Affairs daily.

  • It is advised that candidates spend at least 20 minutes revising Current Affairs daily while preparing for CLAT. Students often find that a question looks familiar but are not able to pinpoint the exact answer to the question. That mainly happens due to lack of revision! Most students don’t falter in Current Affairs because of lack of regular studies, but because of lack of revision.

Mastering Current Affairs is about expanding the knowledge base not in whichever way possible but in a carefully methodical way. The Internet ecosystem is full of free Current Affairs resources, including Videos, Articles, News feeds, Questions etc. If a student doesn’t restrict himself/herself while preparing for CLAT current affairs section, he might soon find himself going through multiple sources daily in quest of new information, but without adding anything to his scores kitty.

Thus, a student should only restrict himself/herself to two sources for CLAT current affairs preparation - LegalEdge MonthLE magazines and either GKToday (news articles here are a little more explanatory) or CloudAffairs (News articles here are a little more precise here).

Thankyou

Shubham Kumar Gupta 30th Aug, 2019
Hello Pranjal, Greetings!
No, you are not eligible since a B.Sc. graduate is not eligible for the GATE examination because this examination requires an eligibility criterion of minimum B.Tech or Engineering to appear for examination.
You can however, appear for GATE examination when you are in final year of MSc or after completing your MSc  only.
Thank you.

Is there any channel on YouTube who help us in preparation of CAT full syllabus

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 29th Aug, 2019
Dear Sneha, there might be Youtube Channels but we cannot vouch for their effect on your preparation. We have a panel of experts and previous toppers who have helped us draft preparation strategy. This might help you:

Quantitative Aptitude covers almost 30% of the CAT question paper. QA can be categorised into Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Mathematics. Practise chapter by chapter and develop mental calculations. Like practise more of basic summation, subtraction, fractions and tables. Numbers, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Ratio, Proportionality, Time-Distance, Time-Work, Mixtures, Averages, Partnership, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Set Theory, Progression and Series, Line, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygon, Circles, Ares, Volume, Height and Distance, Coordinate Geometry, Basic Trigonometry are few important topics.

Preparation tips:

Because this section involves mathematics and takes most of your time, your focus should be on solving the problems efficiently in the beginning. Even if it takes time, practise upto perfection. Practise as many questions as you can in the conventional way. As and when you get a grip on the subject, you can go for short cuts. Memorise tables, square roots, cube roots, conversion from percent to fraction, etc. Solve sample papers on Mathematics. In the beginning, do not worry about the time it takes. As you practise, you will get the hang of the subject and it will be easier for you.

In Verbal Ability session, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.

Preparation tips:

Read articles from time to time. Follow newspapers, magazines, and watch the news channels and browse the internet to keep yourself updated. You will need a lot of reading to help you in the comprehension section. You will need speed to help you in this section and you can achieve that only by thorough practise and reading. Take time to understand the question because most answers are interlinked.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning needs to be practised as much as possible. Comparison of data, Data Analysis, taking clues, interpreting missing data, coming to conclusions and making future projections will be covered under this Category. The questions here are interlinked and so if you get one formula correct, cracking the next few questions will be easy. So it's important to memorise and practise formulae. You should cover topics like Data tables, Data Charts, Bar Diagrams, Pie Charts, Graphs, Data Comparison and Analysis.

Preparation tips:

As this is the most tricky section, this needs a lot of practise. Solve as many sample papers as possible to get the hang of the section. Make notes when required. Regular practise can help you understand and solve the questions easily as time goes on.

ANPAM KUMAR Student Expert 29th Aug, 2019

Hey there

As far as I understood you have not prepared anything for your JEE till now so in that case I suggest you that you have 1 year left (almost) you can easily devote 4-5 hours honestly to chemistry which if you complete then it will give you atleast 70 which is a good score now in physics your 12th portion is a must and in 11th do rotation, waves, work power energy chapters and in maths it is compulsory that you devote 4-5 hours daily to this subject otherwise you won't understand anything. Keep in mind that if you want to get 180 you will have to put a lots of efforts on a regular basis irregularities always results bad.

Good luck
