Hello,

Job Prospects-

Physiotherapy is an an upcoming profession in healthcare.  When it comes to the job prospects, there are ample jobs available in private hospitals, they are required in each department of a hospital, be it ICU or geriatrics and they can also choose to work independently or be part of a multidisciplinary team, can work as a consultant choosing the number of hours for work everyday. they can set up your own practice or centre.

Coming to the salary part-

Some hospitals choose to pay physiotherapists according to the number of patients he or she sees. Initial remuneration of physiotherapists varies from place to place. In India, the starting salary ranges from Rs. 5,000 to Rs.30,000 per month. Generally, private hospitals provide remuneration ranging between Rs. 5,000 to Rs.15,000 per month for a fresher.

In a government hospital like AIIMS, they begin as a Junior Physiotherapist and earn approximately Rs. 30,000 per month.  The progression in designations is Physiotherapist followed by Senior Physiotherapist earning about Rs. 45,000 per month, followed by Superintendent earning about Rs.60,000-70,000 per month and then Chief Physiotherapist earning about Rs.80,000 per month.  Jobs in a government hospital are difficult, so it's better to explore other options.

Do aerospace engineering have scope in long run. How is the course in Amrita university

SOUVIK 7th Jun, 2019

Hello Sudha,

This field is pretty new and under-developed as of now in India, primarily because of the huge investments it requires. The prominent government players as rightly pointed out by Sanket, are ISRO, HAL, few DRDO labs like GTRE, ADA, DRDL and NAL. A few private companies like Tata, L & T, Mahindra, Taneja too have aerospace divisions, which basically cater to either the Indian government companies that I had mentioned above, or do consultancy activities for foreign aerospace companies. Aerospace engineering is a wide area, and we should not think that being an aerospace engineer means working in the field of aerodynamics or flight dynamics only. The subdivisions of an aerospace engineering curriculum usually consist of courses on propulsion, structures, robotics, navigation, control & guidance, manufacturing, spaceflight, aerodynamics, advanced fluid dynamics, material sciences, and flight mechanics. There are a lot of companies like Godrej & Boyce aerospace, L & T, Merlin Hawk Aerospace, etc. who work in one of these areas (for eg. Godrej manufactures the liquid engines for ISRO, L & T makes the interstage structures for PSLV, Computational Research Labs are into the flow and thermal simulations for big foreign MNCs like Boeing and Lockheed). Hence the scope of our work increases by manifolds if we are flexible to work in any one of the areas of aerospace engineering. Foreign MNCs like Airbus, Cassidian, GE and Boeing have R & D labs in Bangalore, employing more than 5000 people with expertise generally in the areas of CFD, FEM, solid modeling. If we see the manufacturing side, there are so many components in an aircraft or rocket that no engineer can know about all these subcomponents in his lifetime. And numerous industries work for delivering these parts because not all have the money to set up an aircraft manufacturing plant in India (only government does presently, and Mahindra have invested after their takeover of an Australian company).

Salaries are high, if you are skilled and willing to shift your location to the southern parts of India, where the aerospace industry is mainly situated. Due to the heavy risks involved, emphasis on quality and complex technicalities, to grow in this field requires a minimum of 10-15 years of experience. The challenges in this field are many and more are going to come in the future with the government funding increasing in recent time. The future of aerospace engineering in India is going to be bright

Your chances of growing more and developing a lot of knowledge in this field will require you to get a degree at least from top IITs and NITs where you can get more exposure as compared to other colleges.

For any other queries, comment below. Have a great day!!

Which subject is best for future scope sociology or economics?

Sayoni Mitra 7th Jun, 2019

Hi Aman,

economics may provide a better foundation for your career as there is a steep rise in the economy and businesses these days. After graduation you can do MBA, And get placed in prestigious companies.

This will give you a better scope and better opportunities.

However, if you take sociology you can do post graduation and go on for Phd and be a professor at any college. That also has its own benefits.

choose wisely.

good luck
