Score
With a JEE Main rank of 224,000, securing admission to top-tier engineering colleges like the IITs, NITs, or IIITs is highly unlikely due to their competitive cutoff ranks, which typically range from 1,000 to 50,000 for various branches.
However, you may still have opportunities in other institutions:
State Engineering Colleges: Institutes such as Assam Engineering College, Jorhat Engineering College, and Tezpur University may have higher cutoff ranks, potentially accommodating your score.
Private Engineering Colleges: Private institutions often have their own admission criteria and may accept candidates with higher ranks. Examples include Sharda University, UPES Dehradun, and UPES Dehradun.
Other Government-Funded Technical Institutes
With a JEE Main rank of 224,000 , your chances of securing admission into top National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or IITs are slim. However, you still have opportunities to get into reputable private engineering colleges or Government Engineering Colleges (through state counseling) depending on your preferences and the branch you choose.
These colleges may have a slightly higher cutoff, but with your JEE score, you have a good chance to get admission, especially in branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or new branches.
VIT University (VIT Vellore) :
Courses Offered : B.Tech in various streams (Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.)
Admission Process : VIT conducts its own exam (VITEEE), but they also accept JEE scores for some courses.
Expected Cutoff : For VIT Vellore , your rank may not be competitive for CSE or IT, but you might get admission in other branches.
Shiv Nadar University (Greater Noida) :
Courses Offered : B.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Civil, etc.
Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores along with an internal exam.
Expected Cutoff : A rank of 224,000 may get you admission into some branches, except for the highly competitive ones like CSE.
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) :
Courses Offered : B.Tech in multiple streams like CSE, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.
Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores and also conducts SRMJEEE.
Expected Cutoff : SRM has various campuses, and with your rank, you could likely secure admission to a branch other than the most popular ones like CSE.
Amity University (Noida, Lucknow, Jaipur) :
Courses Offered : B.Tech in several disciplines like Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores for admission into various branches.
Expected Cutoff : You have a fair chance to secure admission into many branches at Amity .
UPES Dehradun :
Courses Offered : B.Tech in various streams such as CSE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum Engineering, etc.
Admission Process : Accepts JEE scores or their own UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPESEAT) .
Expected Cutoff : Your rank should be eligible for admission in certain branches like Mechanical , Civil , and Electrical .
You may have a better chance of securing admission in state-level government colleges through the state counseling process , especially if you apply to colleges within your home state.
State Engineering Colleges (Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, etc.) :
Your rank could be eligible for some of the Government-funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) or State Government Engineering Colleges . Many state governments conduct their own entrance exams (such as MHT CET for Maharashtra or UPCET for Uttar Pradesh) for admission to government engineering colleges.
Many private engineering colleges in states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana accept JEE Main scores along with their respective state-level counseling processes.
Colleges under MHT CET (Maharashtra) :
MIT Pune, Bharati Vidyapeeth, PICT – You may get admission to some of the branches at these colleges.
Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering (Pune) : For students with a higher JEE score, you may still get a chance in branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
Colleges under UPCET (Uttar Pradesh) :
MMMUT (Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology) , KNIT Sultanpur , HBTU Kanpur , and others may have seats for your rank, especially in branches other than CSE.
Lateral Entry : Since you have a diploma, if you're looking for lateral entry , you may consider applying to colleges that accept lateral entry after your diploma.
Branch Preference : Popular branches like CSE, IT, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical generally have a higher cutoff, but branches like Civil , Mechanical , and Electrical have comparatively lower cutoffs in some colleges.
Scholarships and Financial Aid : Many private universities offer scholarships based on JEE scores, which may help reduce your fees.
Private University Admissions : Check for universities that accept JEE Main scores, and review their criteria and cutoff ranges.
With your JEE Main rank of 224,000 , your best options would likely be:
Private engineering colleges like VIT, SRM, Amity, Shiv Nadar , and others, where you may still be able to secure admission in branches other than the most competitive ones (like CSE ).
State government colleges through state-level exams or counseling in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh , and other states.
As per NTA (released on 14 June 2025):
General / EWS : 686–144
OBC / SC / ST : 143–113
General PwD : 143–127
Hi
With an approx 330 score in NEET UG 2025 , here’s what you can do next:
Check the cutoff for your category and state quota (Govt MBBS may be difficult, but BDS, BHMS, BAMS, or private options may be open).
Register for NEET counselling (AIQ via MCC and state counselling via your state DME website).
Explore private colleges , deemed universities, or management quota seats.
Consider alternative courses like BPT, B.Sc. Nursing, BMLT, or Paramedical fields if MBBS isn’t an option.

If you have 350 marks the govt college are hard to get try courses like bds and bams which have lower cut off and if possible look for private institutions they offer students with lower cut off and fees will be higher there or try for scoring neet marks higher next year if your goal is to get into govt medical colleges
With a TN 12th board score of 538 and NEET score of 400 under the General category, MBBS seats in government colleges may be challenging. Consider BDS, BAMS, BHMS, or allied health sciences. Private medical colleges are also an option.
Admission to Manav Rachna Dental College typically depends on the NEET score, rank, and the specific cut-off for the year. A score of 130 may be lower than the required cut-off for dental programs. It is advised to check the latest cut-off and admission criteria directly from the college.
