Aeronautical Engineering
Hi Nahush,
Broadly, there is not much difference between the two degrees. The only point of difference is Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) is more focused on theoretical study, while Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) is more focused on practical study. There is no major change between the two regarding curriculum, mandatory practical training or even future demand.
If you have chosen aeronautical engineering then, B.Tech is better than B.E. degree.

Sir,
It is totally up to your son, which subjects he wants to study. Admission in all the NITs and IITs is based on his rank in JEE MAINS( For NITs) and JEE ADVANCED (For IITs). And his branch or stream also depends upon his performance in the exam and the cut off .
Hope this will help.
