Can Aligarh Muslim university offer Bsc in computer science application

Abhijit_1514089823 Student Expert 23rd Feb, 2019

Hi Abuzar Ansari !

The department of Computer Science of AMU is one of the oldest and pioneer departments of Computer Science and Information Technology in India.

Students from both undergraduate and postgraduate courses have been able to secure a place in IT market even before the completion of their final examination, which gives an idea of strong placement in this department. The rigorous training of 4 to 6 month, in the leading IT companies and reputed organizations of the country, in the last year of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Application and MCA courses is the main force behind this unparallel placement hub of the university. There are plethora of companies which visits the department every year for the recruitment of the students, like TCS, Accenture, Infosys, IBM, JK Techno soft, HCL, Info system, NIC, Wipro, Bharti Telesoft, and many more.

The following Programs are running under this departmentin AMU

1. Ph.D.

2. M.C.A. /P.D.C.A.

3. B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Application

4. P.G.D.C.P.

5. P.G.E.D.P.

Is amus bsc(hons) in computer application is better than dus bsc(hons) in computer science?

Nupur Sehji 22nd Feb, 2019

Hi Sajal

Both AMU and DU are reputed universities in all respects, be it academics, infrastructure, social life. Delhi University has many affiliated colleges with itself and mostly all of them offer B.Sc. in computer applications. Since you are interested in enrolling for the course in the University itself and not colleges, so below I will explain you extensively the difference among both universities.

ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY

Infrastructure : The infrastructure of the entire university is state of the art and the architecture is fabulous with elements of mughal and british architecture interwined in all the structures.the history of the university is very rich and there are many places of historical importance in the campus, the greenery of the campus is awestrucking and one can feel at harmony with nature here.

Academics: Professors in the university are very qualified and teach well but specifically the CS staff is so lenient in grading that if you are sincere enough you will easily get good grades. But the drawback here is that as a student, one should aim for long term goals , good knowledge and not just marks. So it will be difficult for you to analyse your performance. College infrastructure may excite students but the industry exposure is not so good.

Fees/Cost of Living: Annual Fees for 3-year Bsc. Hons course is around Rs. 22000. Hostel and mess expense will reach maximum to Rs.5000. Cost of living is less if you compare with other colleges and hostel is pretty decent.

Placement: For B.Tech  and CSE students, top notch companies visit for recruitment such as Adobe, Open Silicon, Siemens, LNT, Voltas, O-General, TCS, Wipro, Reliance, NTG, Paytm, Snapdeal and in 2018-29, 19 students got placed with a maximum package of Rs. 8.7 lacs.

However for B.Sc courses maximum package is not more than Rs. 5 lacs but on the basis of your performance and knowledge , you can expect better. Good scores make you eligible to sit for recruitment but selection criteria tests many factors , and this is where AMU students are left behind.

Social : The classrooms here are state of the art with very good facilities and the learning environment of the university is amazing. A number of sports facilities and cultural activities are organised for students giving them an exposure in co-curriculars.

DELHI UNIVERSITY

Academics: The teaching methodology is more theoretical ( though same situation can be in private university as well but not bad as in DU ). Academic Faculty is excellent and B.Sc. students get competent enough at the end of the course in their field.

Placement: The placements in DU for this course are not that good. People from this field face competition from the computer science graduates and engineers from other elite institutions. Big giants like TCS, Infosys, Microsoft hire from top engineering colleges only. Chances of getting good placement is more in B.tech or B.C.A than in B.Sc. Computer Science because in these courses you will get technical knowledge which is in demand for good placement.

Fee: Semester fee may vary from Rs. 5k-7k. and it is  variable in all colleges of DU offering this programme.

Social : Many cultural events are organised but there is no such kind of atmosphere where competitive programming and hackathon is organised. Hence less exposure since the coding culture is almost not present in DU.

List of Colleges:

The colleges affiliated to DU offering 3-year B.Sc.(Hons.) Computer Science programme are:

  • 1.  Acharya Narendra Dev College
  • 2.  Aryabhatta College
  • 3.  Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College
  • 4.  Bhaskraycharya College of Applied Sciences
  • 5.  College of Vocational Studies
  • 6.  Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College
  • 7.  Dayal Singh College
  • 8.  Hans Raj College
  • 10.  Kalindi College
  • 11.  Keshav Mahavidyalaya
  • 12. P.G.D.A.V. College
  • 13. Ram Lal Anand College
  • 14. Ramanujan College
  • 15. Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies
  • 16. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College

On comparison, AMU is slightly better than DU for pursuing B.Sc. (Hons). But  in addition you need to develop your programming and coding skills . I will personally advise to go for post graduation and think of more options for higher studies like M.Sc. , B.eD. as Bachelor's degree alone won't promise you a bright future.

All the Best!

I want to get admission for mbbs in jawaharlal nehru medical college aligarh muslim university.so how can i apply???

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 22nd Feb, 2019
Dear Masood, you need to appear for NEET and qualify so that you can get into Medical College. Now NEET is the only entrance examination for admission into Medical, Dental and Ayush colleges across India. So once you qualify in NEET, these colleges will release their application forms along with their cut off marks. You can download their application forms online from their official website and fill it up. Based on domicility 85% of seats are assigned to State Quota and 15% to All India Quota. So if you do not belong to the State these Universities are in, then you will have to apply in All India Quota.

Can I get proper guidance on ba political science in Amu? ??

Sentila Longkumer 18th Feb, 2019

Hey, Aligarh Muslim University is one of the best University. The seat intake for BA political science is 150 students. 100 boys and 50 girls. It is a full time 3 years course, and you will need to write the AMUEEE (entrance exam) to get a seat in the Uni. To be eligible to write the entrance exam you should have 50% and above as your average percentage in your secondary. The fees for the general category yearly is around 7000 rupees and they do provide scholarships to the students who needs financial help. I hoped I answered all your questions. Best wishes.

AMU Aligarh NEET 2019 marks admission mbbs course General

Yogita Punjabi 17th Feb, 2019
Hello

The cutoff-marks-range can't be predicted as it keeps on changing every year. The NEET 2019 cutoff will be released after the entrance exam.

You can go through the below given cutoff of previous years and can get the estimate idea of the upcoming NEET cutoffs:

NEET 2018:  Rank- 5359,  Score- 562 marks
NEET 2017:  Rank 7422,   Score- 567 marks

Keep high target and score maximum possible. If you want to get admission in your desired college, then your score should be minimum 550+ in order to be on the safe side. As the cutoff changes every year, and this time it may even go high as the number of candidates appearing for the entrance are nearly 14-15+ lakh. So prepare accordingly and give your Bestttt possible.!

Hope this helps.!
Good Luck.!!
