Further to get admission for Master of science in biotechnology  you must give entrance exam and counseling conducted by Anna University .

The faculty nad placement changes from courseto course hence I will just give you a general view(since you have not mentioned any stream). As for the faculty, the teachers here are extremely good with most of them having an experience of over 10 years. Its highly difficult to get admission in  any college under Anna University. The demand for CS and ECE courses are at their peaks. And students with higher cut off will eventually fill the positions before the ranks 1000 or 1200 maybe. But you might get IT in MIT which is actually good and also chance of getting CS in SSN which is the elite course that they offer. You can go for any of the two without a second thought.

In my point of view, your decision is bad. because for your cut off mark, you can get the same college and department through TNEA counselling procedure. If you provide your community details it will be better to prove my point. With the basic details, you provided I compared it with the last two-year admission cut off the ranges. Your cut off mark gets closer to the edge but within the range. So you must speak to the college management it is possible to transfer management admission to counselling it the fees is paid already.

Please be more specific regarding your query because you didn't mention which stream you are intended to study as regulations vary from stream to stream like Engineering or medical paramedical or arts.

For basic counselling process, the following is there criteria,

You can be other state student but if you belong to Tamilnadu as native place then you can get admission.

If not at least your parents should be working in Tamilnadu state government or Central government employee.

Or else you can try for management quota.
