It's better if you take Computer Science engineering. Because artificial intelligence needs a well enough knolwedge of programming and coding as well. You learn lots of languages and also computer organisation and architecture in your btech CSE syllabus.
So ya you must choose CSE. And for masters you can choose Aritificial intelligence stream.

see it depends on from which of the institute you are going to learn, check the students review and compare the syllabus among 2-3 institute, however due to corona pandemic many of the coaching institute are providing on line courses, also online studies save your time spent in transportation, some of the best online platform is stanford online, nptel, coursera, edx.

the basic eligibility to do M.tech (computational and data science) candidate must have done their bachelors degree in field of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc./MCA/four year B.S.or equivalent in any science/engineering discipline and a a valid score in any paper is eligible and also a strong background in mathematics and programming is required.
