Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic is conducted for candidates willing to pursue their education abroad especially Australia.

There is no cutoff marks in PTE but there is a desired score above which universities prefer students for admission. And that desired score is around 55-60 since past years, and with 65+ you get higher points in your application. With 49 score, chances of acceptance are less but not nil, so you may apply to universities where acceptance on low score is valid.

You need a minimum marks of 60 to apply for Australian skilled immigration program.

If you score above 50 and less than 65 then you will be eligible to apply for Australian PR, but this score doesn’t give you any points, you will secure competent English which is the minimal English language criteria to apply.
