Well 95% of Automotive industry in India has only assembly/production facility for which they rarely recruit Automobile Engineers. They mostly hire Mechanical knowledge with basic knowledge. Research and Development labs in India are quite less, to be honest NIL.

First TATA and Mahindra used to have their R&D labs spread all over India but now they are all shifted in Europe.

There is a lot of scope of Automotive industry here in India ,but no scope for Automobile Engineers for sure. Companies look for cheap mechanical engineers for maintenance and every technical stuff is sort out or designed prior in other country.

Maruti Suzuki -China

Tata - Europe/UK with JLR

Volkswagen group -Germany

Daimler -Germany

BMW - UK/GERMANY

TVS - India /Germany with BMW

JCB - UK

Bajaj - India/ Europe with KTM

Hero - INDIA/SPAIN

Hyundai- South Korea

India not a place for qualified Automobile Engineers!! It's the truth.

After btech if you want to pursue in govt jobs than write gate and try for psus and even you can apply in some top private firms via their entrance exam for more queries pls let me know

Do a 1 year PGDC in Power Plant Engineering in the following institutes 
1. National Power Training Institute
2. Jindal Institute of Power Technology(I studied here)

During the course a number of companies approach the institutes for Placements.

For getting into these institutes one needs to write an All India entrance exam conducted by them.Look out for the notifications in newspapers and career360 magazine.

You have scope of job basically in the Automotive Companies for the post of Techician, Trainee Engineer, Etc.

If you do further masters, you get more and more scope depending on your subject of study in Masters.

Rest, you have a great scope in INSURANCE COMPANIES which need Technicians or Officer for Case Review or Case Audit, etc.

Yeah There are many good  colleges there in which admissions are open for automobile engineering like Manipal,SRM,VIT. You can try here in these colleges.
