Yes, he is eligible to appear for MHT CET entrance examination and get admission in Automobile Engineering provided he must have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in 10+2 level from a recognised board.
The eligibility criteria to appear for MHTCET is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a recognised board. General category and candidates from other state irrespective of their category must score minimum 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 level and for reserved category it is minimum 45% aggregate marks in 10+2 level. As your friends has scored above 45% in 10+2 he is eligible to appear for MHT CET and if he performs well in the entrance examination he will get seat in a decent college in the preferred branch.

You can do further studies after diploma in Automobile Engineering . You can apply for degree level courses or PG diploma programs and you may also get B.Tech degree with specialization in Automobile Engineering or Automobile design Engineering.
