What is the cut off for bds for bca in 2024

Prachi Kumari 4th Apr, 2025

Hello,

The term "BCA category" isn't standard in NEET admissions.

If you're referring to the OBC (Other Backward Classes) category, the NEET 2024 qualifying percentile was the 40th percentile, with cutoff scores ranging from 163 to 129.  However, securing admission to a government dental college typically required a higher score, often around 400 marks or more.

Hope it helps !

Required marks in AIIMS college for BDS courses

Akansha Sharma 7th Apr, 2025

AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) does not offer BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) courses. It is mainly known for MBBS and other medical postgraduate and super-specialty courses. If you want to study BDS in a good government college, you need to appear for the NEET exam. To get a BDS seat in top government colleges, you usually need around 450–500 marks out of 720 (for general category). For reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC, the required marks may be lower, around 350–450 marks, depending on the state and competition level that year.

What factors contribute to the consistently low BDS exam results?

Shivanshu 27th Mar, 2025

Dear

i share some insights into factors that may contribute to consistently low BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) exam results.

  1. Lack of Proper Foundation in Pre-clinical Subjects : Dental education requires a strong foundation in subjects like anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. Weaknesses in these areas can lead to poor performance in subsequent clinical subjects.

  2. Inadequate Practical Training : Dentistry is a highly skill-oriented profession. Insufficient hands-on experience during clinical training can affect students’ ability to perform well in exams that require practical knowledge.

  3. Stress and Pressure : The demanding nature of dental education, with rigorous theoretical and practical exams, can result in high stress levels. Stress can hinder concentration and exam performance.

  4. Ineffective Study Techniques : Dentistry requires both memorization and understanding of complex concepts. Students may struggle with time management and may not use effective study strategies, leading to poor retention and performance.

  5. Lack of Updated Curriculum : Sometimes, the curriculum might not be in sync with the latest trends in dental science, causing a gap between what students are taught and the actual requirements for exams.

  6. Limited Resources or Guidance : Some institutions may not provide enough resources or proper guidance, which can limit students' understanding of the subjects. Access to good faculty, resources, and a healthy learning environment is essential for success.

  7. Weak English Language Skills : Since medical and dental textbooks are often in English, students with weak English skills may face difficulty in understanding and retaining study material, impacting their exam results.

  8. Poor Time Management : Dental education spans a number of subjects. Students who don't allocate enough time to each subject may struggle to prepare adequately for their exams.

Addressing these factors could improve performance and lead to better results in the BDS exams.

In previous years :

Which is best field to pursue MDS from? And when is the right time to start preparing for NEET during BDS?

Prachi Kumari 12th Mar, 2025

Hello,

The best field to pursue MDS depends on your interest and career goals. Some of the most popular and high-demand specializations are:

  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery – Good for those interested in surgical procedures.
  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics – High demand in private practice.
  • Prosthodontics – Deals with dental prosthetics like crowns and bridges.
  • Endodontics – Focuses on root canal treatments.
  • Periodontology – Specializes in gum diseases and implants.

It's best to start preparing from third year of BDS as subjects get more clinical-based. However, serious preparation should begin in internship with proper revision and mock tests.

Hope it helps !
