People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre commonly known as People's Dental Academy has a longer track record, better patient flow in the attached hospital, and slightly better infrastructure for clinical training. While People’s Dental University oversees several health sciences programs, the Academy is more specific and focused on dentistry. So if your main aim is to get hands-on clinical experience and a reputed BDS degree, People’s Dental Academy would be a safer and stronger choice.

Based on previous years’ cut-offs, the closing rank for EWS category in government dental colleges was usually below 7000. So, your chances are very low for a government BDS seat under state quota.

You may try for private BDS colleges or look for options in All India Quota if available.

No, you cannot change your category from SEBC to General after registration for BDS in Maharashtra.

Here’s what you should know:

1. If you took admission under the SEBC category, you must submit your caste validity certificate within the given deadline.

2. The government had given a final extension till 6th April 2025 to submit SEBC/OBC caste validity certificates for 2024-25 admissions.

3. If you fail to submit the certificate by the deadline, your admission may be cancelled.

4. You cannot switch your category to General to save the seat. Category change is not allowed after registration and allotment.

Unfortunately No, after registering for BDS in Maharashtra, you are often not allowed to switch from SEBC to general. It is usually not possible to change your application form once you have submitted it with a particular category, particularly during or after the counselling process.

With 412 marks, you have moderate chances for BDS, good chances for ayurvedic and veterinary, but low chances for MBBS under OBC quota in state counselling, depending on your home state.

Private MBBS might still be an option, but with high fees.

Besides MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc. Nursing, you can apply for B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences courses like Medical Lab Technology, Radiology, OT Technology, Anesthesia, and Cardiac Care, offered under KNRUHS. You can also explore paramedical diploma courses through the Telangana State Paramedical Board (TSPMB), such as DMLT, OT Technician, and Dialysis Tech.

These are 1–4 year programs with good career scope and are open to students with Biology in 10+2. Admission is still open for some courses, so apply soon.

If money is not an issue and you're choosing between Jamia Millia Islamia and D.Y. Patil for BDS, Jamia Millia Islamia would be the better choice academically and in terms of reputation.

JMI is a central government university with high NIRF rankings, good faculty, better clinical exposure in a government setup, and lower competition for patient flow. Being a government institute, the credibility and value of the degree are higher, and it's more respected for further studies or job opportunities.

D.Y. Patil is also good, especially in infrastructure and facilities, but it's a private deemed university, and the quality of education may vary based on the campus you choose. It can be a second option if you do not get into JMI or if you prefer a more modern private campus atmosphere.

So, if you have both options and want the best value in terms of academic quality and recognition, go for Jamia Millia Islamia.

If your rank is 126712 in NEET UG 2025, you have a low to moderate chance in the AIR quota, unless you belong to a reserved category. But still you have a good chance in the state quota because state cutoffs are low compared to the AIR, or All India Rank quota. With AIR 2.8 lakh even with EWS category there are slim chances of getting into a MBBs college. Hoever you can get into BDS college in the periphery or in your domicile state.

Apply for both counselling and choose the college priority list carefully according to previous year trends to increase your chances of admission.
