I am currently a second-year BA student, following the four-year program outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP). My educational journey involves pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) after my third year. When considering the option of a combined BA+B.Ed program (B.Ed. I.D), I consulted with seniors who advised me to pursue BA first, followed by B.Ed. They mentioned that some schools do not recognize the B.Ed. I.D program for job opportunities.
They explained that with a B.Ed. I.D, one can typically teach up to class 5 or in pre-primary levels, whereas with a standalone B.Ed, teaching opportunities extend to classes 8 and beyond. There are numerous colleges offering B.Ed programs, and additionally, one may opt to appear for the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into postgraduate B.Ed programs. This insight has guided my decision-making process regarding my academic and career path.
