hello,
Preparation: Practice still life. Keep vessels ,plant pots, and practice sketching still life by drawing literally every detail , shadow, light, foreground, background ,and make it as realistic as you can In only 1 and half hours. Because that’s the time you’re gonna get. Practice normal Gk and fine arts related questions, try practicing every Sample paper of bfa theroy exam and Refer few preparation books, 11th-12th fine art books, youtubing and googling questions and all the four options individually, etc, remember you’re gonna get 30 minutes to solve 30 multiple choice questions in the exam. Practice Compostition and draw, colour, outline characters and background with mix media, in 1 and half hours again. Take random topics like beauty salon, petrol pump, railway station, cafe, Theatre, etc. Go out in public and try drawing them, Don’t pick up fine details ,just normal body language and background and colours. Try perspective drawing and draw houses and inside of your house. Learn to mix and create colours so as to make you drawing better. Search for Tutions for bfa still life and composition practice , but it’s not completely necessary because They will only give you direction and lil’ help , If you can’t afford tution then check youtube and practice Still life and Composition daily through it. At the end it’s you who gotta draw. And don’t worry because Hardwork beats talent. So if you’re passionate and hardworking, you can draw. :)
Experience and what to/not to do: So First of all It’s a really really difficult and competitive exam because the seats are very very very less. So please please don’t procastinate (like I did) and start working because it’s harder than it looks. Even if you are good at drawing , you need to be equally fast and detailed , because there will be people who are equally as good as you (and few even better) so you’re gonna feel you heart break when you will see the rest of people completing there work and submitting while you work is only halfway done. So be quick and that is only gonna happen if you practice daily. There is gonna be a lot of competition because almost every good student from all over India is going to participate. So Don’t panic seeing the crowd like I did, If it’s meant to be you will pass and if not then kudoss to another great opportunities! Don’t look at other’s painting while making yours because it may lower your self esteem as it did mine, try to focus on your work while caring about time. Sincerely take Sketching pencils, watercolours , pallete, paint brush, cups, a big drawing board, rough cloth, paper clips ,blender, eraser and black pen! Keep your admit card Which you will get at the entry door of the college. Don’t be late to the college, exam will start at 9 am so be there till 8:30. Don’t be over confident about your skills by thinking “oh I got it under control mum, I am gonna nail this”(because I did) , and guess what There are people like you and even some so so so much better then you, So don’t under estimate people who applied. Find as many Fine art colleges and fill all the forms and keep backup because I did not and now regret it, but as my parents say it’s never a loss always a lesson. So even if I will not get a college this year and I am gonna practice And make complete use of the whole year And At last keep your calm. This is just a part of your life, Your work will speak for you , not your college in future. But rest I hope everyone Gets the college they want.
hope this will help you
