Yes, it would still be useful. BHEL, GAIL, and SAIL would still recruit students on the basis of their GATE score. If you think by being private, they won't provide perks to their employees then you're wrong. GATE score would still be considered for admission to top engineering institutes like IITs and NITs. So, overall it depends on you.

see if you are selected in bhel there will be 1 year training period. and you cannot choose the department where you want to work. however if sometimes if you get lucky you may placed in your desired department. i suggest you to be patient and work as per their requirement. after the probation period you may get your choice of department.

BHEL has given both engineer and executive trainee vacancies for Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Finance & HR.BHEL executive trainee exam is CBT(Computer Based Examination). The examination has two papers: Professional paper(finance in your case) and Aptitude paper.

Yes for electrical engineering trainee ece ,applied,power and several branches nears to electrical are eligible for bhel recruitment .So you can definitely seat for it and give that exam .So prepare well and do well in the exam. Best of luck for your future .

The best book that you can refer is "Study Guide: BHEL Engineer Trainees Electrical Engineering" by GKP. It includes technical as well as non-technical questions along with the answers.
As far as the syllabus is concerned the Exam is divided into two sections: Aptitude and Technical part.
*For Aptitude, the syllabus is as follows:-

* For Electrical Stream, the syllabus is as follows:-
Basic concepts covering current, voltage, energy and units,capacitance, inductance etc., Circuit laws, Magnetic Circuit, AC Fundamentals, Measurement and measuring instruments, Electrical machines, Synchronous machines, Generation Transmission and distribution of energy and power, Estimation and costing, Basics of electronics which include concepts like PN Junction diodes, transistors, JFET, MOSFET etc.

No, a B.Sc graduate is not elligible for the GATE examination because this examination requires an elligibility criteria of minimum B.tech or engineering degree .
You can appear for GATE exam when you are in final year of M.Sc or after completion of M.Sc and after that you will be eligible for BHEL ET recruitment exam.
